Well,as far as I know, Luka is a boy's name--it's the way Croatians, Bosnians, Serbians, Macedonians...etc. write 'Luca'. Think of the name Lucas--Luka/Luca is just the way some of us spell/read Lucas.
Actually, I think it's the Brits who started mixing up male/female names that were originaly from the rest of Europe that they liked and used. Like Nicola--they made it into a girl's name, when it's a boy's name--a different spelling for Nicolas.
Btw, this ficlet made me go 'aww' and smile like a loon, so lovely it is. I love Luka so much, he's so loveable in that 'wanna pinch his cheeks' kinda way. I love your writing of the Jaspeth relationship, it's always so beautiful and just how I imagine them :)
