Hmm, okay yes - scared me half to death when I was a teenager reading them for the first time.

BUT - if you can find him, try P.G. WODEHOUSE.
His storys, both novels and shorts of JEEVES and Bertie Wooster, Mr Mulliner, Psmith and Mike are hysterically funny.
