Drabble: Late
Fandom: Twilight
Pairing: Jasper/Seth, Jasper/Edward
Prompt: Coming in late
Words: 617
Jasper slowly eased the front door of his and Seth’s home open. He glanced around the entryway noticing that the house was completely dark and quiet. Sighing softly he stepped inside, closed and locked the door. Hanging his keys on the hook by Seth’s he toed his shoes off before going further into the house.
Each room he checked was quiet and dark. The dining room made him pause. Two candles burned down completely stood in the center of the table. Two plates sat on either side of the table, one still with its food on it, cold and barely touched. On the other lay a rabbit whose blood had been warm once but was no longer. Jasper felt a twinge of guilt inside his gut.
Moving further into the house he checked his children’s rooms. Luka slept sprawled out on his bed, head hanging off the side, his mouth open. Jasper smiled and shook his head before closing the door back. Going to the room across the hall he peeked in on Cheyenne. His daughter’s room was just the opposite of his son’s. Neat and tidy, everything in its place. In the bed Cheyenne slept on her side, her stuffed bunny tucked under her arm. Her blanket had slipped down so he moved inside and tucked the blanket up around her shoulders. Kissing her temple he left to go to his and Seth’s room.
He expected Seth to be up and waiting for him. His shifter almost always was when he came in late. But the light was off and Seth’s form was curled up under the sheet on the bed. Moving to the bed he sat down on the edge staring at Seth, trying to read his emotions, for some reason Seth was just…cold. It worried him.
“You’re late,” Seth mumbled barely shifting.
“I’m sorry,” Jasper whispered back.
“You were with him.” Jasper froze from where he had started to remove his shirt. “I can smell him on you.” Seth sat up, refusing to look at Jasper, the sheet pooling at his waist.
“Seth…”
“Don’t ‘Seth’ me.” He ran a hand through his hair. There was a certain way Jasper would say his name and now… he didn’t want… couldn’t hear it said that way. “This is the third time.”
“I’m sorry.”
“This is the last time.” Seth stood and went to the window. Jasper’s eyes widened and he stood as well. Walking over he laid a hand on Seth’s shoulder but Seth wretched away. “No! Don’t touch me! Not after you’ve touched him. I want you out, gone; this was your last chance.”
Jasper’s eyes widened again. “What?”
“48 hours, two days, get your stuff and get out.”
“But Seth… the imprint…”
Seth gave a bitter laugh. “You actually care about that now? Fuck you Jasper. You accepted the imprint years ago but now you expect me to stand by while you go and fuck Edward then come home and expect me to open my legs to you? You can’t have the best of both worlds. I gave you the choice last time and now… you’ve made it.”
Jasper couldn’t even think of a word to say. After a moment Seth pointed to the door. The mixture of Seth’s cold emotions and his anger was confusing for Jasper. He moved to the door, his eyes still on Seth. With a hand on the doorframe he paused and looked back opening his mouth to say what he had finally thought of.
“Just go.” He could hear the sadness, anger and defeat in Seth’s voice. If he hadn’t been dead it would have killed him. “Go and don’t say you’re sorry because I won’t believe you.”
A/N: There may be a one-shot to follow this if I listen to the song that planted the idea again. Up to you. Yes or no?

Though, as always it had just the right amount of angst and bittersweet love in it :)
Now, about that one-shot....

I'm going to do it... once I finish this epic one-shot I'm working on.

Most definitely a follow-up is required.....Need to see the effect of the
separation on Seth and how he survives the breaking of the imprint.
