1. How about a brief introduction of yourself?
Brief can be hard. I tend to ramble :P
I'm Olivia. I'm 23 years old. I'm a college grad with a B.S. of Art degree. I'm getting ready to go back to school to finish my teaching degree. Hopefully by next spring I will be a full fledged English teacher! I love anime and reading, reading most of all. I also consider myself a writer and would someday like to publish a book. My ultimate goal is to become a high school librarian.
2. Fabulous! And what got you into fanfiction to begin with?
A need to see the "what if's". I started with Ronin Warriors, which actually became my first slash fandom too. After that it was various anime's, LOTR, Tin Man and now Twilight.
3. I see, so what kind of fanfiction do you like to write?
Well, it depends on my mood really. Usually though I'm an angst writer. I'm good at angst. Just ask
starry_nights88
4. Do you tend to write the same pairings/characters? Or are you a fandom whore?
I think... I'm both. Usually when I'm in a fandom that's all I really write for but I'll read stuff from other fandoms all the time, even one's I lost interest in ages ago. But at the same time I tend to stick with my fave pairings but I'm open to new ones.
5. What is your most popular fanfic and why do you think people like it?
Uh... I'm actually not that well known. I think. I've yet to have that fic that is my claim to fame. I think. I suppose though... "The Princess Unknown" from the LOTR fandom. It got a lot of attention back in the day, some good some bad. And even now people in the Twilight fandom will be like, "OMG! I read your LOTR fics back in the day!"
6. Forget other people, what is the fanfic you've written you're most proud of?
Toughie cause I'm actually most proud of my drabbles. I have a ton of them and I feel like they are some of my best writing.
7. Do you find writing easy? Hard? What are the most difficult aspects of writing you struggle with?
Writing comes very easy to me. I love to write. The hardest thing for me is I start out really excited about an idea and will get so far before my muse leaves me. I wish the muse for The Bond would come back...
8. Write a few sentences or so of your favorite pairing or character.
Seth’s dark brown eyes watched him with mixed emotions in them. His emotions confused Jasper even more. Seth was… happy to see him? Was that an effect of the imprint?
Jasper turned Seth’s head to the side and leaned down taking a deep breath of Seth’s scent. His nose brushed against the warm skin of Seth’s neck. He could feel the pulsing of Seth’s blood through the main vein there… it would only take one quick bite…
Seth watched out the corner of his eye as Jasper pulled away and sat back up. Slowly the hand was removed from his mouth. “Jasper?”
“I came here to tell you my decision… that I wanted no part of this imprint…”
Seth’s sadness and panic filled his senses and Jasper closed his eyes.
“But your smell… I’ve never smelt anything so good in my life.”
“So… you want me?” Seth whispered, hope clear in his voice.
“More than should be allowed,” Jasper answered.
From my drabble: More Than Allowed - Jaspeth.
9. Are there any fanfiction trends/cliches you can't stand or are just sick of?
No... not really. I'm pretty laid back so if something doesn't interest me I just don't read it.
10. Are you guilty of any of the fanfiction trends/cliches you now hate? Or any other ones?
Probably. -shrug-
11. What was the first fandom you wrote for? Do you still like/participate in it?
Well if you want to be technical... it was Sailor Moon. I wrote the story of Serena and Darien meeting at the ball on the moon for my 7th grade Language Arts class. But I personally consider it Ronin Warriors. I wrote a truly awful fanfic that was never posted anywhere and is now lost (thank goodness). I still read in the fandom occasionally but overall no.
12. Name your OTPs or most frequently written pairings/characters and explain what it is about them you love to write.
Jaspeth - Jasper/Seth -
twilightscribe started it,
starry_nights88 got me into it and now it's my fave pairing in the Twilight fandom. There is just something so cute and fun about Jaspeth.
Jakeward - Jacob/Edward - Like Starry, I love the rivals. I also love passion. I wish I knew how S.M created so much passion between Jacob & Edward and it was so lacking between Bella & Edward... but then I suppose the same could be said about George Lucas with Obi-Wan Kenobi/Anakin Skywalker.
InuYasha/Sesshomaru - Another rivalry. And they are both fucking sexy as hell!
Zack/Angel - The most ultimate student/teacher relationship ever. Zack is just a puppy and you have to love anything with him in it.
Sephiroth/Zack/Cloud - The most awesome threesome ever. I blame
etrix for this one. She has an amazing fic, Mad World, and it is single handedly the BEST "what if" fic EVER.
13. What would you call your writing "style"?
Um... angst? Angst. Angst. Angst.
Oh and did I mention angst?
I think that covers it.
14. Do you read other's people's fanfic? If so, what do you find yourself reading the most?
Oh yeah. I read tons and tons of fanfics. I love reading fanfiction. As to what I read it just depends on my mood. Recently I've been reading Star Wars fanfics again. But I'll really read anything I'm watching whenever it's updated.
15. Name one thing you'd LOVE to write, but have been too afraid or shy to do.
Um... nothing? If the idea comes I'll write it. I'm not that picky. Unlike a certain someone -cough-Starry-cough- I love unhappy endings :P
16. Do you have trouble taking criticism? Or worse yet, do you have the dreaded bloated ego?
I don't think so. I'm pretty open to changing things because I know I'm not the best at grammar and I sometimes have issues with wording things so that they flow nicely. Only thing that really bugs me is when someone tries to tell me to change something about an original character of mine. Being original I know how my character thinks, I know what he/she would do in a given situation. I'll take suggestions but I don't like being told to change things about them.
17. When you write, is there anything that helps? Music? Quiet room?
I don't know about helps per se... but I'm almost always multi-tasking. Music, TV, writing two things at once, RPing... something.
18. What inspires you?
Everything. Seriously, if a speck on the wall hits me the right way I'll write something about it.
19. Lastly, how would you sum up your fanfiction experiences and yourself as a writer?
Fanfiction is a great way for me to express my over active imagination. It's been a huge part of my life for over ten years now and it will continue to be. I love getting feedback on my writing, original or fanfiction. Feedback helps me to improve. Without the feedback I've already had I wouldn't be the writer I am today.
20. Tag some friends, because they'll hate you for it.
I don't tag people on LJ. Do it if you want.
