Jackson is a Daddy!
Jul. 5th, 2012 10:55 pmUS Weekly: Twilight's Jackson Welcomes A Son, Monroe Jackson Rathbone VI
It's a boy!
Jackson Rathbone and his girlfriend Sheila Hafsadi have welcomed their first child together Thursday, a baby boy named Monroe Jackson Rathbone VI, his rep confirms to Us Weekly.
Baby Monroe was born at 9:43 a.m. and weighed 8 pounds, 11 ounces at birth.
The Twilight actor's rep told Us exclusively in February that the couple was "thrilled and excited to be expecting their first child."
Rathbone, 27, met burlesque dancer Hafsadi during a tour stop with his band 100 Monkeys.
"One of the greatest things I could expect to be in life is a father," the actor-musician told Us at the Hollywood premiere of Gone back in February. "I'm very excited!"
Rathbone was relying on his own father for parenting advice. "I have one of the greatest dads in the world," he gushed. "He's just been giving me amazing advice."
The best piece of advice he received? "Be prepared for lots of poop!"
~~~
I'll post this in my own journal since
dailyrathbone refuses to. 1st rejection: due to lack of pictures. 2nd rejection: due to trash talking the mod.
Whatev. No one else, not even the mod is posting about it. Guess you don't want to send your congrats out.
Well I do.
Congrats Jackson! I wish you, Shelia and baby Monroe all the best!
Imagine This...
Nov. 30th, 2011 07:58 pmImagine that there is a bank account that credits your account each morning with $86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day. Every evening the bank deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day.
What would you do?
Draw out every cent, of course?
Each of us has such a bank.
Its name is time.
Every morning it credits you with 86,400 seconds.
Every night it writes off as a lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to a good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no over draft. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the remains of the day.
If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours.
There is no drawing against "tomorrow". You must live in the present on today's deposits. Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness and success.
The clock is running.
Make the most of today.
Pottermore
Oct. 4th, 2011 11:36 pmTo my friends who are on Pottermore already, and for those of you who will be soon, I've created a Facebook page called "Pottermore Slytherin Chat (helpful)".
The "helpful" was added on because there is another Pottermore Slytherin Chat page. However, this page is run by a person I have come to consider an idiot. There is nothing truly helpful ever posted on the page, the only one who ever posts is the idiot and it's nothing but their rants about the other admins not posting.
I was jealous because
starry_nights88 has an awesome group within Hufflepuff and the members on that chat group are very helpful. So I took a cue from them and created my own page.
Pottermore Slytherin Chat (helpful)
On this page you'll find FAQs about Pottermore, potion steps, tips for brewing potions, potion tutorials and a list of items you can find (and where) in the Notes section.
I invite anyone who is a Slytherin and even those who aren't to like this page and help your fellow Pottermore friends.
The Reccer's Cafe
Aug. 18th, 2011 03:40 pmMy cohort in crime,
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
The Recc-er's Cafe is your one stop shop for yummilicious slash fanfiction in a variety of fandoms, genres, and ratings. We'll read'um, recc'um/review'um, post'um for your viewing and reading pleasure! The recc-ers consist of two slash fangirls
Below is a little background information on your two recc-er chicks. This'll, hopefully, give you a little heads up on what sort of stories to expect reviews and recommendations on—up first is the ever amazing Avari!!
Recc-er Avari is a nearly 24 year old chick who just, well, loves fanfiction. When she's not reading it, she's most definitely writing it, and if it were possible she'd probably be breathing it (she tried…didn't work out very well). Avari is currently involved with the Twilight fandom, but can also be found playing around in Harry Potter, Star Wars, Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Mortal Instruments. Her past fandoms are…way too numerous to name, but a major hugely epic one was Lord of the Rings. Avari can and will rec anything and everything she thinks is worth reading, and you will see all different kinds of fandoms from her. Fun times will be had! That's a promise!
After Avari (both alphabetically and age-wise), you have Recc-er Starry. She's 23, obviously female, and a lean, mean, reading machine!! But, not really. When she isn't reading fanfiction (or an actual book recommended to her), she's most definitely writing it. Starry can be found in the Twilight fandom, though it's actually rare that she reads a Twilight fanfiction (and this is because all the Jakeward has dried up; Gr!! *sadface*). Recently she's gotten into Merlin fanfiction and has been reading the hell out of Arthur/Merlin fanfiction. Starry's also into, but in a much smaller degree, Harry Potter and The Mortal Instruments. She also recs a lot of fanfiction in her fanfiction journal (
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
We both hope you'll find this blog fun, informative, and well…fun! Cause we're all about fun tiems, good reviews, and damned good fanfiction! (Quoted from the first post of the Cafe)
Now, if you're still reading here's the true point of this entry. Starry and I would like to bring some quest recc-er's in now and then. If you'd like to be a guest recc-er just leave me a comment. We welcome rec's of fanfiction and fanvids.
VATICAN CITY—In a stunning and unexpected reversal of long-standing doctrine, Pope Benedict XVI proclaimed the Roman Catholic Church's unequivocal support for gay marriage Tuesday, just hours after meeting Stonington, CT couple Tony Ruggiero and Craig Housinger.
The papal decree—which authorizes priests to administer the sacrament of holy matrimony to same-sex partners and explicitly states that "homosexual relations between two consenting adults is not, and never has been, a sin"—was reportedly a direct result of the pope sharing an afternoon of engaging conversation and hearty laughter with the gay couple.
"Not only are Tony and Craig complete sweethearts, but anyone who spends more than two minutes with them can see they're clearly perfect for each other," said Benedict, who in the past has described homosexual behavior as a grave disease that threatens all of humanity. "They're fun, gracious, and simply wonderful company. And you can tell they have something special just by the way they look at each other."
"They're soulmates, really," added the pope, smiling. "Allowing them to formalize their union in the Church is the least we could do for them."
Vatican officials said the vacationing couple and the Supreme Pontiff met during a routine papal audience at St. Peter's Basilica, and "really hit it off" after discovering shared interests in photography, the piano, and Spanish cuisine.
Though sources said the 84-year-old Benedict, a lifelong scholar of antigay ecclesiastical law, initially appeared skeptical upon meeting the pair, he was reportedly put at ease after Housinger spoke a few humorous lines to the pope in his native German and Ruggiero effusively complimented his gold cuff links, touching off a friendly conversation that effectively upended 2,000 years of Roman Catholic teachings.
"They were witty and cultured, but also very friendly—I really don't meet too many people like that," the pope said of the couple, who excitedly suggested to him several off-the-beaten-path sights and "to die for" restaurants after he mentioned an upcoming trip to Buenos Aires. "Craig has a great passion for Italian painting, and I learned a lot from him about the Church's collection of Caravaggios. He's a real Renaissance man."
"I know what scripture says about homosexuals, but when I stop to think about it, I can't get past the fact that the Bible is just a book, and Tony and Craig are real people," Benedict added. "Love is love. Man-woman, man-man, woman-woman—who cares? The Catholic Church recognizes it's not the Stone Age anymore."
Invited on a personal tour of the Vatican, Housinger and Ruggiero were said to have charmed the College of Cardinals with amusing anecdotes from their seven-year relationship, displaying a playful yet tender affection for each other that deeply moved the clergy.
High-ranking officials within the Holy See said they were pleased to learn both partners were practicing Catholics who attend mass regularly, and were surprised to discover Housinger was employed as a general contractor, a profession none of them considered gay at all.
According to reports, the highlight of the afternoon came when the couple shared photographs of their adopted 14-month-old Cambodian daughter, Lorraine, whom the swooning clergy universally described as "angelic."
"Even if you just meet Tony and Craig for a few minutes, it's easy to see how supportive and patient they are," said the Most Rev. Francesco Coccopalmerio, the Vatican's top expert on canon law, who noted the two partners have a stronger bond than some of the married couples he knows. "You can tell they've created a perfect household for a child to grow up in. I just wish everybody could be raised by parents as devoted and caring as them."
Following a warm farewell in which Ruggiero hugged Benedict—an incident the Holy Father described as "not even weird or anything"—Vatican leaders are said to have unanimously agreed that it was "completely hypocritical" for anyone, especially those who have taken a vow of celibacy, to tell people whom they can or cannot share their lives with.
"If Tony and Craig want to exchange vows before God and their friends and family, where's the harm in that?" Benedict said. "It's not as if they're offending the sanctity of life, like those wicked birth control users who will toil for all eternity in hellfire."
EDIT:
Well... shit. Here I was all excited and then I realized I was going to hell because I use birth control. Guess it's a good thing I'm a Christian and not Catholic :P
Limited Internet Access
Oct. 24th, 2010 01:44 pmWell... my modem has apparently died. After spending two hours on the phone with AT&T last night the woman decided that there was both something wrong with our phone line and that my modem had died. So they are sending me a new one.
I should have it no later than Wed.
Hopefully once I get it I'll have net access again. Cause if not... major sadness.
At least I'm subbing two days this week (so far), so that will keep me busy those days. This will also give me time to focus on meeting my "read 100 books before 12/31/10" goal.
I don't think anyone on my f-list is lucky enough to have my cell # but if you do that will be the way to reach me over the next few days. A few of you also have my snail mail but that would probably take longer than me getting my new modem will XD.
Spirit Day
Oct. 20th, 2010 08:08 amToday is Spirit Day.
Wear purple to remember those who have recently committed suicide.
"The idea behind Spirit Day, first created by teenager Brittany McMillan earlier this month, is a simple one, not dissimilar to the idea of "Spirit Week" held in many high schools, and can be summed up in three words: Everyone Rally Together.
Spirit Day honors the teenagers who had taken their own lives in recent weeks. But just as importantly, it's also a way to show the hundreds of thousands of LGBT youth who face the same pressures and bullying, that there is a vast community of people who support them.
Purple symbolizes 'spirit' on the rainbow flag, a symbol for LGBT Pride that was created by Gilbert Baker in 1978.
As one of the event's Facebook pages says: "This event is not a seminar nor is it a rally. There is NO meeting place. All you have to do is wear purple."
Wearing purple on October 20 is a simple way to show the world that you stand by these courageous young people and a simple way to stand UP to the bullies. Remember those lives we've tragically lost, and show your solidarity with those who are still fighting. 'Go Purple' today!"
