A/N: As I was posting my Jaspeth drabbles/stories to my AO3, I realized that I had never written Jasper & Seth’s wedding. I know, crazy. So I set down to do that, got 3 or so pages in and got stuck. I asked my beta for some advice and she made some suggestions. One of the suggestions was instead of a traditional wedding, they just go to a courthouse and be married there. I had never thought of this but now I did, and the more I thought about it, the more it fit Jaspeth. So, I finished the traditional wedding (since I already had most of it) and then I wrote this, less traditional version. All depends on your taste of which you prefer, but I’m posting both so you can decide. Enjoy!

Cowboy Take Me Away

Version 2

Seth blinked slowly, sucking in a deep breath through his nose. It was much dimmer now than when he had closed his eyes, which was saying something given how darkly tinted the windows on Jasper’s Mustang were. He stretched with a yawn, his neck and back popping in the process. Jasper’s hand caught his as he settled into a more comfortable position. Seth smiled as he felt Jasper’s thumb running over the ring that he now wore on his left ring finger.

“You were tired,” Jasper stated.

“Exhausted. Where are we?” Seth asked. He looked out the window but could only see darkness, maybe a cactus now and then. Jasper had been driving for ten hours, maybe more, Seth didn’t ask how fast he was driving. They had left after the reception had finally ended, driving until about 5am before stopping to rest until noon.

Seth gave Rosalie an incredulous look. “You want us to what?” They had been planning this wedding off and on for the better part of two years but this was the first time he had heard anything about being kept apart before the wedding.

“It’s just a day,” Rosalie said rolling her eyes. “Call it an old school tradition. Surely you can stand to be apart for a day when you have the rest of your lives right?”

It had all been going so right and then in a blink of an eye…so wrong.

Magnus had always prided himself on training his cats to not come near when he was doing magic. He had no idea why, of all times, Chairman Meow decided now was the time to run into the glowing circle. By the look on the young Shadowhunters faces, they knew this couldn’t be good. Magnus saw a blur of black move to his right, maybe from where Alec had been standing, but they had all been standing on that side.

Alec slowly opened the door to the house he shared with his family. He glanced around wearily, slipping inside and closing the door back soundlessly. Carefully but quickly, Alec made his way up to his room, holding the thing, brown paper bag against his chest. Closing the door behind himself, Alec allowed himself to relax. He had made it.

Stepping away from the door, Alec allowed himself to grin. He dropped down onto his bed and slowly slid the paper bag off the item inside. The cover of Detective Comics #140, the first appearance of The Riddler, was pristine in its plastic cover. He had saved for over a year to be able to afford this comic and now it was his!

Blue eyes followed Jace’s line of sight and Alec’s shoulders slumped just slightly. “Why can’t they just leave us alone? One day, is that too much to ask?”

“Kid sure is growing,” she commented.

“Sure is,” Jasper agreed. “Seems like just yesterday we were giving him his first bath.”

Jasper kneeled next to the bathtub, plugged the drain and then turned the water on, adjusting the temperature as the water ran. He let the water fill the tub until it came through the mesh at the bottom of the baby tub and then turned the water off. “Water’s ready Seth,” Jasper called. He looked up with a smile as Seth entered the bathroom, their newborn, Luka, wrapped up in a baby blanket in his arms.

One thing Seth doubted was if anyone but himself, Alice and maybe Edward, knew just how big of a sap Jasper Hale was. He lay there on his old bed in his mother’s house, forbidden from seeing his imprint for the next 24 hours by Rosalie, turning the iPod Jasper had slipped into his pocket before they had been separated. Seth had already scrolled through the songs, 20 in total, and the choices had made him roll his eyes, and a smile come to his lips. I’ll be seeing You, At Last, and What’ll I Do? were just a few to name off the playlist. Seth slipped the earbuds into his ears and hit play.

Jasper’s own feelings echoed his lover’s; it had been and was torture to nearly have a baby only for him to be…still born. He sighed and stepped out onto the pool deck. His skin shown slightly in the sunlight but thanks to an invention by Carlisle he didn’t sparkle as he used to.

He was worried about his Dad; even though his Papa and the rest of the family assured him Seth would be fine. Seth had grown weaker over the past three months since his pregnancy had been discovered. Luka knew he was resting and eating well, but still he worried. He remembered the memories Embry had shared with him of his Dad’s pregnancy with him…it had been horrible; he had nearly died in Jacob’s opinion. Turning down the dirt path toward Embry’s cabin he sped up a bit, anxious to talk to his imprint.

He sighed, preparing himself for sharing his baby with someone other than Jasper, Carlisle and Esme. “Come in.” The door opened, Leah and Lilliana looked at him questioningly. Seth rolled his eyes at them and jerked his head for them to come in. Leah sat on one side of him and Lilliana sat on the other.

Lilliana rested her head on Seth’s shoulder. Nearly thirty-five years old and Seth was still her favorite uncle. She had been so worried about him during his pregnancy. “I missed you Uncle Seth.”

It had been three days since Seth had woken after Luka’s birth. Carlisle had removed the IVs and feeding tube the day before once he was certain Seth could keep food down on his own. They hadn’t moved home yet, wanting to give Luka a little time before moving him since he was a premie. Seth and Jasper were completely in love with their son, they both counted his fingers and toes numerous times, made faces and talked endlessly, just to see what Luka’s reactions would be. In a way they were both still in shock that they finally had the baby that they had wanted for so long.

"Do you have to go?"

"You know I do," Jack answered balancing on Jamie’s windowsill. The sky was starting to lighten with dawn approaching. "Summer officially started at 2:04am, I can’t be here during the summer."

Jamie pouted and sighed. “I know, I know, I just miss you.”

"Sandy can get messages to me if you get to missing me too much," Jack said with a grin.

"Jaaaack."

Jack chuckled. “Seriously, I don’t think he would mind.”

Jamie bit his bottom lip. “Could I give you something before you leave?”

Jack looked at the seventeen year old. His hands were empty and he was in his pajamas…so what could he give?”

"Sure?"

Jamie took a deep breath and then leaned forward, pressing his lips to Jack’s. They both gasped and Jamie pulled back, his fingers going to his lips. “You’re so cold!”

Jack mimicked the action, his lips tingling with the warmth that had touched him briefly. “You…kissed me…”

"Is that okay?" Jamie questioned softly, worried.

"Bunny probably won’t like it." Jamie frowned. "But you know I’ve never really cared what Bunny thought."

Jamie smiled. “Could I kiss you again?”

"I won’t leave until you do."

"Don’t tempt me Jack."
