Alec slowly opened the door to the house he shared with his family. He glanced around wearily, slipping inside and closing the door back soundlessly. Carefully but quickly, Alec made his way up to his room, holding the thing, brown paper bag against his chest. Closing the door behind himself, Alec allowed himself to relax. He had made it.

Stepping away from the door, Alec allowed himself to grin. He dropped down onto his bed and slowly slid the paper bag off the item inside. The cover of Detective Comics #140, the first appearance of The Riddler, was pristine in its plastic cover. He had saved for over a year to be able to afford this comic and now it was his!

Before Alec had come into his life, Magnus had spent maybe one night a month in what he had deemed his “memory” room. The room was small, little more than a closet and it was empty except for the walls. The walls were covered in pictures… Etta, the boy from Peru… many of the portraits had been created from his memory and created with his magic, so many who had lived before photography had been invented.

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones
Movie Review
I pride myself in being a realistic fan. It seems like whenever I become a fan of something I am almost off the spectrum, even though I may love it dearly. The good thing about being this way (I think) is that it’s easier for me to look at something for flaws or not to have exceedingly high expectations for something. I went into the movie theater to watch The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones with the knowledge that it is a book adaptation (and yes, I have read all the books) and as such there would be changes. I wasn’t able to go opening day and I wasn’t going to avoid the websites I frequent because there might be spoilers. I’d already read the book so what could really be spoiled?

But I will be nice and warn others because I know some are hardcore about spoilers so this is your warning. There will be spoilers for the movie The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones in this review.

Prompt: Malec on a gondola in Venice. The gondolier starts singing and Magnus joins in. Alec is embarrassed.
Note: Lyrics used are from Josh Groban’s song “Gira Con Me Questa Notte”.

Alec sighed as he leaned back against Magnus’ chest, his hand resting on the edge of the gondola just enough so that his fingers touched the water. Above them the night sky was peppered with millions of stars. He closed his eyes, a small smile playing on his lips. Here he could be himself, completely, it was just him and Magnus…well, and the gondolier.

Up till now the gondolier had been fairly silent, just humming some song but now he started to sing, “Il mondo gira con noi questa note. Ahhhh, esistesse lontano da qui. Un posto dove scoprire il mio cuore. Sapere se lui puo’ amare ti o no.” The gondolier had a nice voice, he sang softly, becoming one with the night. Alec relaxed even further…then Magnus decided to join in.

“Ci sono strade azzurre nel cielo. Ci sono occhi e il cielo e gia li—”

“Magnus…you are ruining the moment,” Alec muttered a blush coming to his cheeks. He could tell from the tone of the gondolier’s voice that the song was romantic in nature and for Magnus to be singing about that—to him—well, it wasn’t right, at least not when they weren’t alone.

Alec felt Magnus grin against his ear. “I am only adding to it darling, I can’t have this dear boy stealing your heart from me now can I?”

A frown came to Alec’s lips. He turned his head just enough so he could meet Magnus’ eyes. “He couldn’t steal my heart because it’s already been stolen.”

Magnus grinned. “Oh, by who?”

“You.”

“I know darling.” Magnus silenced Alec’s protest by pressing his lips to his boyfriends. Above them the gondolier kept singing and the stars sparkled.

Prompt: "Where you go... I go"

“Alec c’mon!” Isabelle yelled waving for her brother to follow her. Alec panted, his chest heaving from exertion. He looked back to where Magnus had thrown up a shield so they could make their escape. “Alec!”

Alec met his sister’s eyes, watched the understanding grow in hers before he turned and went back to Magnus’ side. He could hear Isabelle screaming, crying, for him but also her yelling at Simon and Jace to let her go. Jace would keep her safe.

Magnus glanced over, sweat rolling down the side of his face. “What are you doing?”

Alec drew an arrow and aimed it at the army of demons on the other side of the shield. “Where you go, I go…even if it’s in death,” he replied.
