Fandom: Twilight
Pairing: Jacob/Leah
Prompt: Why did you go?
Jacob didn’t like big cities. He tried to avoid them at all costs. They were too crowded and noise for his tastes. So why was he here in this noise coffee shop where people kept bumping into the back of his chair?
Seth.
The youngest member of his pack would be starting college in a couple of days (UCLA thanks to the Cullens) and he had promised Sue he would make sure Seth got settled. Seth was way more excited about being in a big city for college than Jacob would have been.
Someone bumped into the back of his chair again and Jacob shot them a glare, not that they noticed. He checked the time on his cell phone praying Seth’s orientation meeting would be over soon. No such luck, only five minutes had passed since the last time he checked and he’d had an hour to kill then. Jacob took a sip of the coke he had gotten, looking around the room.
It was an alpha habit he had picked up. Watch everyone, be aware of everything and you’re never caught by surprise. That was why when he caught sight of the waitress he froze. No… it couldn’t be…
Leah.
Jacob stood and walked up behind her. He could be mistaken but he didn’t think so. It was part of being an alpha, knowing your pack… whether they had left or not. Plus he had spent too many years watching Leah. He knew the way she moved. Jacob swallowed, his throat suddenly dry. “Leah?”
Leah dropped the cup he had been putting in her wash bin. The cup shattered again the floor but she didn’t pay it any mind as she turned toward him. It had been five years since she had left and seen any of them. “Jake.”
The look in his eyes broke her heart more than Sam ever had. “Why did you go?”
