Seth struggled in Jasper’s hold the whole way home. He fought and growled, threatening to phase but Jasper knew he wouldn’t because that would put him in to much danger and he knew Seth would never do anything that would hurt him. Jasper knew Seth was angry, beyond angry, but his own worry for his shifter overrode that.
Jasper knew the shifter healing ability had already taken care of Seth’s wound but he still had to check for himself. Once inside their house he set Seth on his feet, ready to examine him thoroughly, he didn’t expect Seth to storm off toward their bedroom. “Seth? Seth! Come back here, I need to make sure you’re okay.”
Seth grabbed a duffle bag and started stuffing clothes into it. “I’m fine,” he growled. “And I’m leaving.”
“Leaving?” Jasper questioned. “Why?”
“I can’t take it anymore Jazz! You pamper and coddle me like I’m going to break! I’m not! Okay? I’m a fucking wolf for crying out loud! I’m tired… tired of being caged!”
Jasper felt a wave of shame come over himself and it wasn’t from Seth, it was his own emotions. Slowly he came up behind Seth and wrapped his arms around him. Seth struggled but Jasper just tightened his hold and kissed Seth’s neck.
“Seth… baby, please… listen to me.” Seth tried to pull away again. “Please?”
Seth sighed but went still. “What?”
“I’m sorry,” Jasper whispered. “I’m sorry for being overprotective. My intention was never to have or to keep you… my intention was always just to love you.” He loosened his hold on Seth and turned him around so he could look into his eyes. “And I did.” He kissed Seth’s forehead. “And I do.” A kiss to Seth’s nose. “And I always will.” A final kiss was placed on Seth’s lips.
Jasper knew the exact moment Seth melted due to his emotions but he was still caught by the beauty of Seth’s smile. “Oh Jazz…” Seth whispered. “I love you too.”
