When I was little, and even now, I thought/think the coolest job ever would be to be a storm chaser. Get right in with the danger and excitement, film the tornado's and stuff! Sry... you are reading the journal of a chick that watches the weather channel for fun, even as a little kid I did that.

In 7th grade I thought all I wanted to do was to go to Morehead Univeristy and become a writer/journalist. I was dead set on this dream until 11th grade...

In 11th grade I was told that I had the personality that would go great with being a teacher. I explained things in a way that most could understand. I still wanted to be a writer but the more I thought about it the more I could see myself being a teacher. The kind that most kid's liked and thought was cool. It was decided by the end of this year that I would go to Cumberland. But things change as aspects I didn't notice before came out.

I have always loved reading, it's my favorite pass time. This was only reinforced when I became a library aide senior year of highschool. I had unofficially been a library aide since sophmore year but didn't get credit for it until senior. My friend Hallie and I were put in charge of making a list of what books students would be most interested having in the library, as a way to get more kids to read. By the end of the year we had about 1,000 on the list. Most of our books get donated to us when Mrs. B (the librarian) sends the list out to bookseller's and then they send them to us.

I started college back in August, as you all know. When I came back over fall break I came to see Mrs. B, chilled with her for a whole day in the library. That was when she told me she thought I would make an excellent librarian. Well that just threw all the plans off. We talked about it and the more we talked the more I fell in love with the idea.

Mrs. B wrote me a recommandation letter for the head librarian at Cumberland. So when I applied for work study that was where I was placed. As I have written before, I had the time of my life learning how the library works and such. I can't wait to do it again next year.

When I came home a few weekends before school ended I went around to the local libraries and submitted applications and letters of recommandation to them. Each one called back and said that the state had cut their funding so none could hire any summer help. Well that was depressing. My mom even checked over at the county courthouse but their funding was cut as well, and they really needed people.

Mom says that she is writing our local paper. She says that it's terrible that the local libraries will hire old women who don't know how to use computers and can barely read the barcodes on books, who just need something to keep themselves occupied during the day over a younger person who really wanted a position in the library as a future occupation.

I agree with her but I didn't think she would write the paper! She's never really been into the idea of me being a librarian. But maybe now she's finally realized that I'm serious.

Anyway... so I went looking for work elsewhere... but when you live in a community as small as mine it's really hard to find a job. I really REALLY did not want fast food. I like fast food... it's bad for you but yummy. If I know what they do to the food I would never want to eat there again.

But I got a job! That's not fast food! I will be working in a town about 20 minutes away from my house at a place called Cooks. It's a small convinence store with a pharmacy and such. I'll be working in the pharmacy section putting info into the computer. I'll make about $6.50 an hour, 20 hours a week that are very flexible since it's just me and the computer.

I can't wait to start! The guy I will be working under told me to come back in Wed. @ 9 am to fill out some forms but I don't know if I'll be working after that or not. I guess we'll just have to see. ^_~
