I think I will die before this semester is over. I dropped my Drawing II class because I didn't agree with my prof's teaching methods. She's a very nice lady but a total ditz when it comes to teaching. I was told by some friends after I dropped the class that she almost cut her finger off cutting bamboo for some kind of pen they were going to use.

World Religions is a fun class my prof is very random and funny, he likes telling us odd stories from the religions we are studying like this one...

Story )

His tests are very VERY hard. He gives us 6 essay questions that he is considering using and tells us to really study 2 of them. If we are lucky one of the one's we studied really hard will be on the test and we can just make something up for the other one.

I didn't think it was going to be so bad because we had sorta done the same thing in World Civ last year, boy was I wrong. Dr. Robinson's questions are so much harder and so much more in depth. I swear the first question had five different topics in it.

I made a D- on the first test. I wasn't pleased but was satisfied because I expected to do much worse. My mom wasn't so happy though, she has really been on my case about my grades. It's a good thing I don't tell her when I skip class. >.<

For the 2nd test I was determined to do better. I went home... without my laptop... with only my clothes and books so I wouldn't get distracted and would actually study. Can you believe I studied less than what I would have if I had had my laptop. Well it's true. I never once cracked a book open the entire weekend. I got back on Sunday and started studying.

I studied the first question hardcore and then kinda looked over the others. When I got to class on Monday, the people I sit around and I talked about #6. When he handed out the test I hadn't even gotten to look over the 3 questions that were on there, he gives us 3 but we only have to do 2, it's to give us a choice, the guy behind me says... "Ohhh... I'm in trouble." Then a couple of seconds later it was, "Oh nevermind. I'm good."

So I went through and did the test, I think I was the 2nd or 3rd to turn their test in. On Wed. he gave them back at the end of class I was kinda scared to see what I had, I thought I had done better but you never know. I stood by my friend Tim as we opened our tests. C+ stared back at me and I was thrilled. Tim didn't know how in the hell he got a B but we were both happy.

Now on to my other classes...

Ancient to Gothic Art History, this class is just as boring as World Religions but at least there are sometimes semi pretty pictures to look at. I usually use the class as a time to write or study for another one. We were recently talking about Ancient Egyptain art and of course the gods. Amon Ra, which Mr. Weedman explained, can be pronounced many different ways, which he proceeded to do. But this is how he explained the gods creation...

Gods )

Mr. Weedman got a really big kick out of this but the rest of us are just kinda sitting there staring at him. He's very odd but for the most part knows what he's talking about. He's my second fave art teacher, after Mrs. Allen.

We had our first test in A&G and I wasn't expecting to do real well, not because I didn't study, but because my mind just doesn't work on his tests. But I got it back and had a 69.5 on it. Normally at my college a 60 is an F but some teachers don't follow that so I asked to see what I had got and he said that a 70 was passing. I was kinda pissed because I was so close to passing! I never got that close in Ren. - Mod. Art History. The highest I got in that class was a 55.5. All my friends I told said they would have been pissed too, then the next class we were talking about it and Mr. Weedman overheard us and he said, "No no Olivia, you passed. A 60 is an F, you got a D or a D+." I swear the man likes lying to me... But I passed! The first test and I passed!

Other than that I have Astronomy and Intro to Public Speaking.

Astronomy is a boring class but the labs, where we go out and look at the stars are super cool. Last time we found a bunch of constellations and it was awesome. I've been back to the tennis courts outside of class 3 times just to look. It's not as good as home because there is a lot of light pollution but it works.

My Intro to Public Speaking prof is very nice and funny. I missed class on Thursday because of a family thing and didn't have internet all weekend since I was home without my laptop and then had that test to study for. On Tuesday when I got to class I learned that we had a speech due and I so was not prepared, my classmates told me to leave so I did and went to work. While at work I emailed him and apoligized for my lack of time managment and communication skills. I guess he admired that I explained and is going to let me give my speech this Tuesday, I am very relieved.

I also changed my major. I am no longer an art major but an English major. Apparently this is a bad thing, even my favorite english professor groaned when I told him. But it makes more sense to be an english major when I want to become a librarian than an art one. Right now my new advisor is Dr. Fish the chair of the english department but I'm hoping in a couple of weeks that will be changed to Dr. Frazier. He said he would be glad to take me on. ^_^

Well I guess I should get back to work now... I think you are updated very well on my life and the business of it. Oh! My beta for LOTR kinda abandoned me so if anyone wants to take it on I would love them forever. Not that I have much time to write but I get a little out now and then... usually in World Religions or A&G. ^^;;
