Drabble: Little Comforts

Pairing: Jasper/Seth
Prompt: Bonding
The small device cracked in Seth’s hands and he tossed it in the trash. Wiping his tears away he went to the kitchen and wrote Jasper a note, should he come back from hunting early. Going outside, Seth removed his clothes and tied them to his leg before phasing. A soft whine left his throat before he took off in the direction of Jacob and Edward’s home. When he reached the trees around their house he phased back and got dressed.
Walking up to the house he rang the doorbell, knowing he didn’t have to but did anyway. Jacob answered the door after a moment, a smile coming to his lips when he saw it was Seth. His smile quickly vanished when he saw Seth’s gloomy expression. “Hey Seth, what’s up?”
“Could I see the twins? Please?”
“Well, they’re asleep…”
“I won’t wake them up.”
Edward appeared behind Jacob. “C’mon in Seth, you know where their room is.” They both stepped back and Seth stepped in, nodding his thanks before he headed for the twin’s room. He could hear Jacob and Edward whispering behind him, distinctly hearing the word negative. Hearing that whispered word his heart broke a little more and he quickened his step.
Once inside the twin’s room he closed the door gently behind himself. Seth watched the two eight year olds sleep for a moment before he moved to Caleigh’s bed. She was sleeping next to the edge so as gently as he could; trying not to wake her, he climbed over and lay beside her.
Seth laid his head on the extra pillow, watching her innocent face as she slept. Tears came to his eyes and he tried to blink them away but it didn’t work. Tear after tear fell from his eyes, across his nose, soaking into Caleigh’s pillow. Reaching out he brushed some of her loose hair behind her ear, the action drawing a small sigh out of her and he froze. He had promised he wouldn’t wake them.
Caleigh blinked once… then twice… and no more. Seth let out a sigh of his own, hoping she had gone back to sleep. Then she opened her eyes and looked at him. “Uncle Seth?” She whispered.
Seth sniffed. “Sorry ‘Leigh, I didn’t mean to wake you,” he whispered back.
She reached out and wiped his tears away. “Why’re you crying?”
“Uncle Seth is sad.”
Caleigh gave him a well, duh look and he sighed. Seth closed his eyes for a moment, willing himself to stop crying but it didn’t help.
“I just… I want a baby so badly ‘Leigh,” Seth whispered. He buried his face in the pillow to muffle his sob. Caleigh put her hand on Seth’s shoulder, she hated to see him cry… to be in so much pain. When Seth turned his face back to her she moved her hand from his shoulder to his cheek.
“It’ll be okay Uncle Seth… one day, you’ll have a baby and we’ll all love them very much.”
Seth sniffed again and pressed a kiss to her forehead. “Thanks ‘Leigh, now, go back to sleep before your daddies get mad at me for waking you. I’ll stay until you go back to sleep.”
“Okay… Uncle Seth?”
“Hm?”
“I love you.”
Tears fell from Seth’s eyes again. “I love you too ‘Leigh.”
