My friend Liz and I went to see Warm Bodies in theaters tonight. I read the book yesterday because I like to read a book a movie is based on before seeing the movie so I can make comparisons. There are times that the movie is better than the book, but they are very few and far between. This was not one of those cases.
Rating: 3/5 stars
I don’t think I included any real spoilers… mostly just book vs. movie stuff.
Pros:
-Nicholas Holt was a great choice for ‘R’.
-The gradual progression with the speech was a good move.
-Really enjoyed Teresa Palmer as Julie.
-Very funny.
-Excellent soundtrack.
-The Boneys were scary.
-No zombie wife/kids… or sex, that was weird in the book.
Cons:
-They changed the ending between book and movie. Book was better.
-I preferred ‘R’s’ outfit in the book, it made me wonder about him more.
-City wall, not restricted to just the stadium.
-White washing of main cast, mainly Nora.
-Zombies didn’t have gray eyes; they were varying shades of blue…and one orange.
-Julie’s mom’s death.
Overall we liked it, we laughed a lot. Liz is convinced that ‘R’s’ name is actually Romeo because of how they played out the balcony scene. I can’t wait to read the two prequels and sequel, I was very curious about ‘R’s’ character.
