Bella stood on the beach waving the waves pound against the sand. The hurricane approaching was a monster but Bella wasn’t afraid. Why should she be? A simple hurricane wasn’t going to hurt her in the slightest. Plus she was here for a reason. She had to find something for her and Alice’s 100th anniversary.
Alice deserved something special. This hurricane churning up the seas would hopefully bring something that was perfect. Bella looked up and down the beach, her sharp eyes searching for…
There!
Bella raced forward and grabbed the shining piece before it was buried in the sand or taken back out to sea. The bottoms of her jeans were soaked by the time she stepped away, wet sand dripping from between her pale fingers. Opening her fingers she smiled.
The piece of red sea glass, one of the rarest colors, sparkled each time lightning danced across the sky. Alice would love this on a necklace… Bella quickly shielded her thoughts not wanting her lover to know her present.
Closing her fingers around the piece again she tucked it into her pocket. Now was the time to leave, before the worst part of the storm hit. She would already get a tongue lashing from Alice for being out here in the first place… but maybe if she caught it soon enough she could turn that lashing into licking…
Bella grinned as she took off running.
