Day 11 - A picture of something you hate.



I apologize if this image offends any of you. But this challenge asked for something I hate. Something I hate is stupid people using God's name to promote hate and intolerance.

I'm not really sure why the maker of this sign chose to put "ROM. 9:13" at the bottom. Clearly they do not know their Bible. Romans chapter 9, verse 13 states: "just as it is written: “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.” (quoted from www.bible.org)

To me... that does not connect in any way, shape or form to God hating homosexuals.

In fact if people would just keep reading... Romans chapter 10, verses 9-13:

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”[a] 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

As that passage says. ANYONE. There is no difference.

God loves all. God does not hate. Stop promoting your hate by trying to twist his words.

Yeah, no. The bible really doesn't say a whole lot about homosexuality. And in the verses that *are* labeled correctly (lol)... the words translated to say "homosexual" in the English translations of the bible originally meant things like "child molester" and "temple prostitute"(which could have done homo or hetero acts). So they're not really comparable...

I mean, I'm not Christian by any means, but I've tried to read the scriptures of most of the major religions, just because I think it's important. And he first time I ever read the bible...I came out shipping David/Jonathan and Ruth/Naomi. The subtext was EPIC. Just putting that out there, lol.

Agree with you here - ignorance using the Bible to bolster intolerance and prejudice. And of course to believe every mis-spoken word.
