Jacob frowned as he caressed Seth’s burning cheek. It had been two weeks since Seth had come down with this fever and he had just progressively gotten worse. Being gentle as possible, Jacob lifted Seth into a sitting position and gave him the ladle of water he was allowed for the meal. Really, it was Jacob’s own ladle, they had to go to the cell door to get it and if they didn’t go they didn’t get. Seth wasn’t able to go so he didn’t get his own. Seth shivered and pressed himself against Jacob’s warmth.
“How is he?” Sam questioned quietly.
“Not good,” Jacob sighed.
“Here.” Jacob looked up and found Sam offering his ladle of water out to him. His eyes widened when he realized the rest of the back had gathered around to do the same. “Seth’ll dehydrate faster without water sweating the way he is. He needs this more than we do.”
“If he could just phase…” Jacob murmured. His eyes landed on the black collar around Seth’s neck. They all wore one. He wasn’t sure how they worked but these collar’s kept them from phasing.
After giving Seth all the water they had Jacob lay him back down on the only bunk in the cell. He sat at the head of the bunk, running his fingers through Seth’s sweat soaked hair. With his head resting back against the wall he thought about the hope that had disappeared when Seth had been thrown into the cell. Jacob had held out hope until then. As long as there was still one of them out there, there was a chance of rescue. Now though… He sighed and shook his head again. He still couldn’t believe that Seth was the last to get caught. Maybe the kid was the smartest of them all…

“Out you wolf scum,” the tall, black vampire ordered. Sam, Paul, Jared and Brady growled at him but all it earned them was a lick with the vampire’s whip. “Out!”
Slowly the pack filed out of the cell. Jacob left Seth lying on the bunk as he had done previous days. Their vampire captive’s made them… train, that was how they put it. Jacob curled his lip in disgust at the thought. Today would be no different. Seth would be safe until they returned.

Today was different. Instead of being taken to the training rooms the pack was led to a cramped room, the door closed behind them. Sam and Jacob tried to keep them all calm, but the truth was, they were all scared.
They had no idea how long had passed before a door on the opposite side of where they had come in opened. Quil, being the closest, was grabbed and pulled out to quickly for any of them to react. Moments later they heard the sounds of a… auction.
“What the hell?!” Paul growled.
Over and over the door opened, one of them grabbed and pulled out before the door shut again. Occasionally they could hear jeers from what they assumed as a crowd outside but mostly they could only hear the bids being called out. Each wolf went to the highest bidder. They didn’t come back. Jacob’s heart started to pound. Seth! He had left Seth thinking they would come back. He was fighting with the door they had come in when the door on the other side opened. He was the only one left.
Jacob growled and blinked at the bright light that blinded him as he was pulled out. A crowd of vampires stood before the stage. His hackles rose and he bared his teeth at them. He fought against the vampire holding him. He had to get back to Seth!
Jacob didn’t even notice the bidding. It wasn’t until the gavel banged down on the wooden stand, the auctioneer calling out “SOLD! 200,000,000!” did it really sink in. He had been sold to the highest bidder and he wouldn’t get back to Seth. Jacob looked out at the crowd wildly, his eyes widening when he spotted various members of the Cullen family. “And that concludes today’s sale!”
Jacob went wild. “NO!” He screamed. “SETH! SETH IS STILL BACK THERE! SETH! SETH! SETH!”
The whip cut into the flesh of his back but he didn’t care. He kept screaming and fighting. He had to get back to Seth. Jacob found Jasper in the crowd, the vampire’s eyes looking as panicked as he knew his own was. The only reason it looked like Jasper wasn’t on stage was the fact that Emmett had his arms wrapped around him.
“Shut up you!” Another strike of the whip. Jacob kept screaming.
“You’re holding back on us! Saving the best for yourself!” A vampire called. There were yells of agreement. So many that the auctioneer scowled at Jacob but couldn’t hide Seth any longer. They had to give what their buyers wanted.
“Fine! You want to see the other? I assure you he’s not the best.” The auctioneer nodded to the tall, black guard and the second disappeared. The guard reappeared moments later dragging Seth, a look of disgust on his face. He threw Seth to the middle of the stage. Seth whimpered and curled in on himself.
Jacob heard the outcries of disgust from the crowd of vampire’s. He wanted to rip them all apart. Seth was sick! It wasn’t his fault he looked so bad.
“This is the last one. Who wants to start the bidding?” The auctioneer questioned with a smirk. No one in the crowd spoke. “Oh come now! 500,000! Look, it’s still a beautiful beast sick or not!”
No one spoke.
“300,000 then.” The auctioneer waited. “No one? Alright, take him back.” The guard moved to grab Seth again and Jacob got ready to fight.
“100,000,000!” All eyes went to Jasper. He was practically panting from the exertion of holding back. “I said I bid 100,000,000 for the wolf on stage.”
“…SOLD!” The auctioneer stated in shock.
The moment it was said Emmett let Jasper go and Jasper was on the stage gathering Seth into his arms. He glanced at Jacob and Jacob felt peace flow over him. “You’re safe,” Jasper stated as he approached. “My family and some of our friends have seen to that.”
“Seth…” Jacob whispered as they left the stage.
“Is safe,” Jasper murmured. “You’re all safe.” He held onto Seth tightly.
Almost possessively Jacob realized. His eyes snapped back up to Jasper’s. “Wha-”
“Seth is mine,” Jasper stated. He placed a light kiss to Seth’s lips, practically caressing them with his own. “How do you think we found out what was happening to the pack?”
Jacob couldn’t answer. He was just… shock.
