Seth sat on the steps of the Cullen house, a bottle of whiskey held loosely in his fingers. Fireflies hovered through the warm night air, their lights blinking on and off at different intervals. Seth didn’t see them though; his eyes were trained on the stars. He loved watching the stars, probably because Forks and La Push were under cloud cover so much. Raising the bottle of whiskey to his lips he winced as the liquid burned its way down his throat.

“Seth?”

He didn’t have to look to know that Edward was standing behind him. From the tone of voice he knew the vampire was concerned. Seth snorted and rolled his eyes. That was a first.

“You’re too young to be drinking.”

“And you suddenly care?” The words were harsh and he chased them with another pull from the whiskey bottle.

“Seth…”

“Don’t. Just… don’t okay?”

“Seth I didn’t mean to hurt you.”

Standing quickly Seth hurled the bottle in his hand at a tree. It shattered into a thousand pieces, the remaining whiskey staining the tree. Seth whirled around and glared at Edward.

“Why do you always assume it’s about you?! Look Edward, I kissed you yeah but I don’t want you.”

Edward’s eyes widened. “But… your thoughts…”

“I am a teenager. I’m fucking horny all the fucking time!”

“Then who do you want?” Edward saw Jasper’s face flicker through Seth’s mind. “Jasper,” he whispered in shock.

Seth’s anger left him suddenly and tears started to fall from his eyes. When he went to his knees Edward was at his side in an instant. Seth held onto Edward as he cried. He knew the other would see the events of a few hours ago playing out in his mind. How badly Jasper had hurt him…

“We’re breaking up,” Jasper stated.

Seth’s eyes widened. “W-What?”

“We tried it and it’s not what I want. So we’re breaking up,” Jasper explained.

There was more to the memory but Edward blocked it out as he rocked Seth, trying to sooth him. He couldn’t believe Jasper had said that to Seth. “Shh, it’ll be alright,” he murmured.

Seth sniffed. “I… I just… didn’t know…”

“Know what? That he was going to break up with you?”

Seth shook his head. “That we were even together… officially. He wouldn’t let me get that close.”
