Prompt: 10 Things I Hate About You

Anakin muttered under his breath as he cleaned the machine oil from his fingers with a stained rag. He sent a glare at his Master, who sat across the room reading some mission report. Obi-Wan was ignoring him and that infuriated Anakin. After seven years you’d think he would have gotten used to it. But no, it still made him so mad he could spit. Picking up a log book from his left, he flipped to a clean page. The lingering oil on his fingers stained the pages.

At the top of the page Anakin wrote 10 Things I Hate About Obi-Wan Kenobi. Under the title Anakin numbered the lines down to ten.

1. I hate when Obi-Wan ignores me
2. Hate that he always has to be right
3. Hate how he never seems to get dirty
4. He hates my flying
5. He can meditate no problem
6. Knows something about everything
7. That damn thing growing on his face that he thinks makes him look older, but mostly just because it hides his face.
8. How he doesn't see me, he sees a Padawan, a responsibility, a duty.
9. The way his accent makes women and men fall all over him, everywhere.
10. He's...perfect

Anakin stared at the last reason he hated Obi-Wan. Glancing up at his Master again he sighed. Yes, he hated Obi-Wan being perfect...but he loved it too. Someday Obi-Wan would realize… and when he did they would break all the rules together. Anakin ripped the page out of his log book, crumpling it up in his hand. Obi-Wan never needed to see the list and Anakin didn’t need it as a reminder.

Yeah, if he could he would have made sure that every day Obi-Wan would have gotten dirty somehow. He would have changed Obi-Wan’s hatred for flying into love. And yes, he wished Obi-Wan would have problems mediating just once! But…

Of all the things on his list... number 10 was the one he wouldn't change.
