Fandom: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Pairing: Sokka/Zuko
Prompt: Hold Me
Zuko gently pulled the sheet over the fallen water bender’s body. For hours he had had his healer’s trying to save Katara but in the end her wounds had just been too great. Aang had disappeared after he had been told of her death but Zuko figured that was to be expected. He looked out at the balcony where Sokka stood.
Quietly Zuko went out onto the balcony and stood behind Sokka. He could see the tension in Sokka’s body as well as how Sokka’s shoulders shook. Zuko wanted to comfort his lover but he didn’t know if now was the right time. Sokka’s sister had just died.
Sokka sniffed loudly and glanced over his shoulder. “Zuko?”
“I’m here Sokka,” he said gently stepping up behind the other.
“What am I gonna do?”
Zuko wanted so badly to hold Sokka, to ease his grief, but he didn’t know how. “We,” he made sure to emphasize that word so Sokka would know he wasn’t alone. “…will hold a great celebration in Katara’s honor. It will not be a celebration of her death but of her life and all her achievements.”
Sokka sniffed again but a little smile had appeared on his lips. “She would like that.”
Zuko nodded. “I think she would. Katara wouldn’t want us to mourn when there are other things we could be doing, people we could be helping.”
“You’re right. I can hear her yelling at me for crying right now.” Sokka wiped his tears away but more replaced them. “Zuko?”
“Yes?”
“Hold me?”
