Relena looked around at the crowds moving about the outdoor market with a smile on her lips. The L2 colony was bustling as always. It was one of her favorite colonies to visit.

“Look out lady!”

Relena jumped at the shout and quickly stepped back. A small boy rode past her on a skateboard. He turned his head back and glared at her with dark blue eyes nearly hidden under long brown hair. She felt her heart nearly stop in her chest. That boy… he looked like…

“Heero…” She breathed.

Quickly she made her way through the crowd, following the boy. After a few minutes Relena saw the boy stop beside a tall, lean figure leaning against a railing that looked over a small park. The figure reached down and ran a hand through the boy’s hair. The boy smiled up at him and they shared a few soft words she couldn’t hear but then the boy jumped on his skateboard again and headed down into the park.

It had been nearly seven years since she had last seen Heero. He had grown a little taller but other than that he looked just the same. “Heero,” she called softly.

“Hm?” He turned blinking his dark blue eyes at her. “Relena?”

Relena smiled and approached him. “Heero, it’s been a long time.”

“Seven years,” he acknowledged in his deep voice.

“How have you been? You’re not a soldier or Preventor now. Are you happy?”

“Papa!” Relena blinked at the little girl’s voice as Heero turned. She watched him smile and wave. Her eyes followed his gaze. On a small patch of grass in the park below she saw the little boy with his skateboard, a little girl holding a doll, her long brown hair braided down her back. She also saw Duo sitting on the blanket, a happy grin on his face.

Heero turned back to her. “Yes, I’m happy.”

“You have children?” She questioned in surprise.

“Two, Hajime and Arisu, they’re twins.”

“So you and Duo…?”

Heero nodded.

“How?”

“Hilde,” Heero answered simply as if that explained everything.

“He-chan! Lunch!” Duo called. Heero glanced back down at his family.

“Would you like to join us?” He asked. Relena smiled.

“You don’t mind?”

Heero shook his head and offered her his arm. Relena took his arm and they walked down to where the family had set up a picnic. Duo was surprised but happy to see her, giving her a hug. He was more than happy to give more details to the simple answers Heero had given her. Relena’s eyes kept going back to Heero, thinking about how much she had missed not seeing him. When he laughed at something Arisu said she could see how happy he really was. This was what he had been missing for so long… a family.
