There were many things Seth loved about Jasper. His hair, his eyes, his hands, his compassion, his mind, his voice… But above everything Seth loved Jasper’s laugh.

Jasper didn’t laugh often you see, so when he did Seth took a mental picture and filed it away in a special part of his heart so he would never forget it. His memories were the one thing they couldn’t take away from him in this place and when Aro touched his hand he called up those memories of Jasper laughing so that they were the only thing the evil vampire would see.

Every time Aro growled and sent him flying back into a wall. Immediately Jane would focus her ability on him and Seth would writhe on the floor screaming until his voice gave out. Over and over they did this, you would think Aro would learn… but no, he was just waiting for Seth to break. Each night Felix would drag him back to his cell, throw him in and lock the door.

Seth might have been able to escape… if he hadn’t hurt so badly. Instead he curled up into a ball, willing sleep to come, willing Jasper to come to his rescue. Finally dreams would take over and he would dream of Jasper laughing…

Someday he would hear that laugh again…
