Fandom: Twilight
Pairing: Jasper/Seth
Prompt: Promises
Seth stared down at his and Jasper’s fingers that were laced together, hands resting on the white tablecloth that decorated the table. It was a nice restaurant, the kind you took someone to for a romantic dinner…or to break up with them. Seth swallowed hard before he looked up to meet Jasper’s golden eyes.
“…how do I know that you won’t go back to Alice?” There it was, his biggest fear. He was relieved that Jasper didn’t try to control his emotions, that fact assured him that Jasper was taking this talk seriously.
“Darl’n.” Jasper’s voice washed over him like a soothing balm. “I can’t promise you forever.”
“I know,” Seth whispered blinking back tears, his eyes fixing on their laced fingers once more. This was it, this was when Jasper broke up with him and went back to Alice.
“No one can.”
Seth’s head snapped up, his eyes wide. “What?”
“Well…I could given our special circumstances.” The corner of Jasper’s lips quirked just a little with the hints of a smirk. “But I don’t know what tomorrow will bring so that would be a lie. You know me well enough to know that I won’t lie to you Seth. Relationships are hard, they don’t always work but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give them a shot.” Jasper leaned back in his chair but he didn’t remove his fingers from Seth’s. “Hell, you could leave me for that waiter tomorrow.”
Seth’s eyes flickered over to the waiter who was cleaning the table next to them. He knew the waiter must have heard Jasper because he gave Seth a slow once-over, one that made Seth blush and shift uncomfortably, before he flashed a welcoming smile.
Jasper’s fingers tightened around his just slightly. “Keep walking,” Jasper growled.
The welcoming smile vanished and the waiter quickly made himself scarce. Seth couldn’t help himself, he chuckled.
“Seth.”
His attention went back to Jasper. Seth’s heart thudded in his chest with love for the man sitting across from him.
“I’d like to spend forever with you. If something happens and we don’t work out, fine, but I’m not going to let that happen if we don’t try.” The look in Jasper’s eyes told Seth that he was sincere, convinced him that they weren’t at this nice restaurant to break up. “I’m willing to give it a try.” Jasper smiled.
“How about you?”
