Fandom: Twilight
Pairing: Jasper/Seth
Prompt: Hiding
The only way I can describe that moment is complete and utter panic. First, my heart completely stopped for a split second that felt like eternity. Then, my heart started pounding as the panic set in. I could feel the blood rushing through my ears with each thump. Had I not been in such a state of terror, the cold sweat that rose on my skin would have given me a chill. All of this because my baby, my little boy, had disappeared on me.
I don’t know what happened. One moment Luka was standing right there, his little hand holding onto my shirt. I had stopped to look at a shirt, always needing shirts since mine always got torn so easily. Luka was right there. I looked down and he was gone. I looked one way, then the other. I smiled for a moment thinking it was a joke.
“Luka?” No answer. “Luka, not funny. Come out.” Nothing.
That’s when the panic came.
I was frantically searching, calling Luka’s name. Other people in the store were either staring or looking around as well. And then… I heard a giggle. I stopped in my tracks, my breath coming out in harsh pants.
“Luka?” Another giggle. I turned toward the sound, approaching a circular clothes rack. I took a deep breath and prepared myself because if Luka wasn’t here I don’t know what I would do. I pushed the clothes aside and my brown eyes met his golden ones. “Luka!” The relief was instantaneous. Tears filled my eyes and I went to my knees, drawing him into my arms. “Don’t ever do that again Luka! You scared daddy.”
He pulled back and touched the tears that were now running down my cheeks with a frown. “Don’t cry daddy, I was ony hide’n.”
