Title: Intermediate Imprinting: Temptation
As RPed by: [livejournal.com profile] starry_nights88 & [livejournal.com profile] avari_maethor
Pairings: Jasper/Seth, Edward/Jacob & Emmett/Leah.

A week later Jasper was sitting on his futon reading with Seth’s head propped up on his leg as he read the last of the Mortal Instruments series. They had already finished Seth’s homework and supper had been served so now they were just spending the rest of the evening in each other’s company as they read. Jasper felt Leah’s emotions before he saw her. The only female shifter was nervous, scared and happy… it was a very strange combination of emotions.

Seth turned his head as Leah appeared in the doorway. He frowned as he marked his page and sat up. “Hey sis, is it time to leave already? It still feels early… what’s wrong?”

"I've got to tell you something..." Leah said, biting her bottom lip. "It's really important...and I don't know how to tell mom."

Jasper blinked as they both watched the young woman. "What is it?"

Leah shifted around, playing with her fingers. "I haven't even told Emmett yet..."

“Whoa, this must be serious if you haven’t even told Emmett yet,” Seth commented as he stood. “What is it Lea? You know you can tell me, I won’t love you any less no matter what it is.”

"Okay...promise not to freak out...?" Leah asked seriously, Jasper could feel her nerves rolling over him like waves. It made him jumpy.

“Yeah…Leah, you’re starting to scare me.” Seth frowned.

"I'm pregnant."

Seth’s jaw dropped. “S-seriously? I mean… you’re sure?”

"Seriously!" Leah replied, frowning deeply. She didn't even know vampires were able to have kids. "And I'm positive. Esme got me a pregnancy test and I just took it."

Seth stared at his sister in shock for a moment before he smiled. He was already so excited; he was going to be an uncle! Seth pulled Leah into a hug and then picked her up, twirling her around as he laughed. “Congrats sis!” He kissed her cheek, grinning widely.

He turned to Jasper, who had stood and was looking at Leah in confusion. Running over Seth took Jasper’s hand in his own. Before Jasper knew what was happening he felt something warm on his lips, pressing, though not hard. It took a moment but then he realized that Seth was kissing him!

Before Jasper even got a chance to react to the kiss, Seth was already pulling away with a wide-eyed expression on his face, Leah leaving the two to with a soft cough as she continued through the house to find Esme.

A smile split Seth’s face, excitement teaming through his body. “We’re going to be uncle’s Jasper!” Suddenly… it sank in what he had done and his eyes widened further, a hand coming up to touch his lips lightly. “Well… I’m going to be an uncle…” He said softly as a blush lit up his face.

Resistance, he decided, was futile. Seth was everything he didn't know he was looking for and Jasper was finally ready to accept that. He let out a sigh, the softest of sighs, before his hand reached for Seth, curling around the back of his neck (tangling in the hair at the base of the younger's neck) before he leaned forward and pressing his lips to Seth's again.

Seth made a small shocked sound before his eyes closed and he melted into the kiss… into Jasper. His arms came up and wrapped around Jasper’s neck, pulling his imprint closer. His wolf was humming with happiness.

Jasper's other arm wrapped around the younger's waist as he stepped closer to the teenager, unable to tell where his feelings ended and Seth's began. All he felt was happiness. A perfect, unending happiness.

Eventually Seth had to pull away to breathe. He stared at Jasper as he sucked in breath after breath. “Y-you…” He stammered. Jasper raised an eyebrow. “Do that again.”

Jasper choked back a chuckle at the younger's demand as he leaned in again, sealing Seth's lips in another kiss. Finding out quickly that there was something purely addictive about kissing the shifter.

Seth couldn’t stop himself, he moaned when Jasper gently bit at his bottom lip. He wanted this, wanted to feel more of Jasper so he willingly opened his mouth for Jasper. The feeling of their mouth’s melding and Jasper’s tongue against his own… incredible… simply incredible.

Jasper never knew a kiss could be so intoxicating, he never thought kissing someone could be like this. Kissing Alice had never been like this. When he kissed Seth it was like everything but the shifter in his arms just disappeared. And he liked it.

Seth let Jasper explore his mouth until he needed to breathe again. They shared short kisses until Seth caught his breath. “I’m not dreaming right? Please tell me I’m not dreaming…” Seth whispered.

Sometime during the course of their kisses Jasper's hand had moved from the back of his neck to Seth's cheek. He moved his thumb across the younger's skin. "It's not a dream," he replied just as softly.

Seth smiled. “Good… because this is so much better than a dream.”

Jasper returned the younger's smile and even though he hadn't had a dream in centuries he silently agreed with the shifter in his arms.

Seth kissed Jasper again, his fingers burying themselves in Jasper’s hair. This kiss didn’t last long before Seth pulled away. “I should…um… I should go make sure Leah’s okay.”

The vampire almost didn't want Seth to go, but he nodded in agreement. "You should. That was some pretty big news, wasn't it? We're going to be uncles."

Seth smiled at Jasper’s words, his heart pounding. “Come with me.”

"Of course," Jasper replied, the hand on the younger's waist reaching to grasp his hand, lacing their fingers together.

Seth squeezed Jasper’s fingers as they stood and went downstairs. They found Leah and Esme sitting in the living room, holding hands, Leah still looked like she was in shock. Seth frowned and let go of Jasper’s hand to go sit beside his sister. He wrapped his arms around her and she let go of Esme’s hand to hug him back.

Esme stood, coming to stand beside Jasper. “I’ve called Carlisle, he should be home soon,” she said. “And Emmett is on his way back from hunting.”

Jasper laid a comforting hand on the woman's back, using his special ability to ease everyone in the room. Leah looked like she could use it. She shouldn't be stressed since she was pregnant.

“What am I going to do Seth?” Leah whispered. “Mom is going to have a cow… and I don’t know how Emmett will react… I mean vampires shouldn’t be able to have kids!”

Seth wished he knew what to tell his sister, but he didn't. He hugged her closer and laid his head on her shoulder. "Emmett will be happy, Leah. Don't worry about him. And mom..." His voice drifted off on that note. He didn't want to think about how their mother would react to this news.

“Seth’s right Leah, Emmett will be thrilled,” Esme assured her.

“What will I be thrilled about?” Emmett questioned as he came in the door, his eyes bright.

Esme looked at the girl. "Do you want to tell him, dear?" She asked, willing to step in and tell her son herself if the girl needed her too.

Emmett frowned, almost immediately, at that. He looked in between his mother and his lover. "What's wrong? Is it your mother? Is she pissed again?" He rattled off, jumping to conclusions as Leah shook her head and stood up.

Leah took a deep breath before meeting his eyes. “I’m pregnant.”

Emmett stared at the girl for the longest of moments before looking at his mother (since his father was not there), "Is that even possible?" He asked, confused before looking back at Leah, his eyes wide. "Not saying that I don't believe you babe...but, I'm a vampire..."

“Well it’s yours,” Leah snapped.

Seth stood and wrapped an arm around Leah. “Calm down Leah, Emmett knows you wouldn’t, couldn’t, cheat on him. He wasn’t implying that.” The younger looked at the big vampire. “Were you Emmett?”

Emmett shook his head, still wide eyed, before he stepped over to the younger girl. "Babe...I'm in shock here...it's...its impossible...b-but...you took a pregnancy test, right?"

Leah nodded. “Esme bought two for me. They were both positive… and… and… she can hear the heartbeat she said.”

"Holy shit," Emmett gasped, falling into Leah's empty chair, covering his face with his hands. "I'm going to be a father," he said, though it was muffled.

Jasper laid a hand on his shoulder. “You will be a wonderful father Emmett.”

Emmett mumbled something illegible and Jasper heaved a soft sigh, giving his brother's shoulder a comforting squeeze. He could feel the shock and nerves rolling off of his brother, just as he could feel Leah's. The emotions were making things a little uncomfortable for him, but he endured for his family and Seth.

Carlisle walked in the door. Esme immediately went to his side and gave him a quick run down of what had happened. He looked at Leah with wide eyes, then Emmett and then back at Leah. Clearing his throat he set his briefcase down. “Leah, come with me, I want to do a blood test.”

The girl nodded, not saying anything as she followed Carlisle. Emmett followed as well, though he knew he wouldn't be able to be in the same room when his father performed the blood test.

Seth came over to Jasper and laced their fingers together. “Is this to much? Do you want to go for a walk?”

Jasper nodded. "It's...overwhelming..." he admitted, squeezing the fingers he held. "A walk in the woods would be nice...hell, just being around you is nice."

Seth grinned and then looked at Esme. “We’re going out for a few, we’ll be back soon.”

"Alright," Emse agreed, nodding. "I'll call for you if anything with Leah comes up."

“Thanks.” Seth turned back to Jasper and they left the house. “What a day…”

"Tell me about it," Jasper replied, sighing softly, already feeling calmer now that he was out of the house and in Seth's presence.

Seth smiled at him. “Jasper, we’re going to be uncles! Oh I’m so excited, I love kids. I kinda lost hope for Leah after Sam hurt her so bad but then she imprinted on Emmett and she was happy again… but I still didn’t expect any nieces or nephews because well you guys are vampires but it’s so exciting!”

"I've never been around a baby before..." Jasper replied, humming in thought. He was excited. Very excited.

“There have been a few on the rez, not many but they are fun. They are usually very easy to make smile… but they can cry easy too…” Seth frowned in thought. “Usually the one’s I have been around smile a lot… or sleep. When babies are really young they sleep a lot.”

Jasper nodded. "It'll be interesting to have one around the house. Esme's excited. Worried, but excited."

“I guess its right to be worried… I mean, I’m assuming this is completely unheard of especially between a shifter and a vampire… we don’t know what could happen. I don’t know how mom will react… I’ll have to do my best not to get on Leah’s nerves so she doesn’t have any unneeded stress.”

"I think..." Jasper started. "If your mother got to be a problem for Leah, Emmett would insist that she move in." He sighed softly. "I'm not supposed to say anything, but Emmett's started the process of divorcing Rosalie. He's going to ask Leah to marry him."

Seth stopped walking and looked at Jasper with wide eyes. “Really?! That’s great! Leah will be so happy!”

Jasper nodded. "Emmett's excited as well, but I think he'll push the process through quicker with the baby on the way."

“They should have a Christmas wedding. Christmas is only about two months away. Do you think they could finish the divorce process by then?” Seth questioned.

"Most certainly," Jasper replied, if only because he knew certain people who could push the papers through the systems.

“I wonder how Rosalie is doing…” Seth murmured. He had briefly met the female vampire once before, she was…memorable.

"Both her and Alice are adapting well in Alaska, though Alice's hinted she'll be back...something to do with a vision...but, she wouldn't say anything more..." Jasper replied, shaking his head.

“It’ll be good to see her again. I really like Alice. Edward said she didn’t hate me but I would still like to talk to her myself.”

Jasper nodded and did not try to reassure the shifter, he knew that he'd always think otherwise until it came from Alice's mouth. "She didn't give me an exact time she'd be back. But she said soon."

“I’ll look forward to it. I bet the baby will have more clothes than I do,” Seth laughed.

"Oh yes. That baby will most definitely be spoiled," Jasper chuckled, pulling the younger closer to him. He unlaced their fingers and then wrapped an arm around Seth's shoulders.

Seth sighed and leaned into Jasper’s embrace. “We should probably be heading back; maybe I can convince Leah to stay the night tonight.”

"If Emmett doesn't beat you to it," Jasper replied with a grin, already starting to turn around. "What about you? Do you want me to stay with you tonight?"

“Here or my house, either way the answer is yes,” Seth replied. “I like knowing you are there. Not that I need protecting… but it makes me feel safe.”

"I understand," Jasper said, nodding as he smiled at the younger teen. "I like the way you make me feel too."

---

Back at the house Emmett was grinning. Carlisle had confirmed the pregnancy with the blood test. The big vampire was practically bursting with excitement. Seth smiled at him before leaving Jasper to find Leah and ask her about staying the night.

"Congratulations," Jasper said, grinning at his brother.

“Man Jazz… I don’t even know where to start!”

"Well, for one, did you ask her to marry you yet?"

“No… I was going to wait for the divorce to be final, should I go on and ask? I mean… I have the ring. I bought it weeks ago.”

"Then you should ask," Jasper pointed out. "I'm sure she won't mind waiting until the divorce is finalized."

Emmet pulled the ring case out of his pocket and looked at it. “Tomorrow,” he decided. “I’ll ask tomorrow, once this has settled in a bit.”

Jasper nodded. "Good luck, though I don't think you'll need it."

“You think she’ll say yes?” Emmett questioned.

"I'd be shocked if she didn't," Jasper replied.

Emmett nodded. He was sure Leah would say yes too but there was still a small part of him that was nervous that she might… might… say no.

Seth joined Jasper again smiling. “Leah said we could stay tonight. I just have to call mom.”

Jasper's arm returned to the younger's shoulder, hugging him to his side in a show of support and comfort. "When do you want to call her?"

“Sooner the better,” Seth sighed. “I’ll use the phone in the kitchen.”

Jasper nodded. "You're right," he agreed.

“I’ll be back in a few,” Seth told him. He leaned up and kissed Jasper on the lips briefly before walking into the kitchen. Jasper watched him go until Emmett coughed lightly.

“When did this happen?” His brother questioned.

Jasper frowned in thought, Seth's taste lingering on his lips. "Um...an hour or so..."

Emmett blinked and then laughed. “Well it’s about time! Congratulations to you too Jazz.”

Jasper laughed at that. "Thanks."

Seth returned about ten minutes later. “She wasn’t happy but she can’t make us come home either,” he told Jasper.

Jasper's eyes flicked over to the shifter, noticing the unhappiness before he noticed the frown on the younger's face. "It'll be alright."

“I know… I just hate making anyone unhappy. Until recently we have been so close… seemed like everything went downhill when dad died…”

Jasper frowned, stepping closer to the younger teen as Emmett excused himself (going to pass the news on to Leah and get her settled in for the night). "I know, but you can't make everyone happy," he said softly, wrapping his arms around the boy.

Seth nodded. He looked up at Jasper and gave him a soft smile. “As long as I can make you happy that’s all that matters.”

"You're better at it than you know," Jasper assured the teen with a smile.

Seth’s smile widened. “Really?” Jasper basked in the happiness that radiated from Seth following his statement.

"Really," Jasper answered with a smile, leaning down to press his lips again Seth's again.

Seth pressed up into the kiss, opening happening when he felt Jasper’s tongue against his lips. He could get used to this… it was addicting.

“Holy… I told you something big had happened,” came Jacob’s voice as he and Edward walked in the door. Edward stared at the two before looking at his lover.

“You have no idea… this is quite a small revelation compared…” He replied.

"Compared to what?" Jacob asked, frowning as Edward's face almost seemed to grow even paler than it had been before. "Babe?"

"Leah's pregnant."

Jacob blinked, obviously not getting it, before he looked at Seth. "Hey! That's great news! Congratulations! You're going to be an uncle!"

Edward grabbed his lover's hand, drawing the shifter's attention back to him. "It's Emmett's baby..." he pointed out and it took a moment for Jacob to understand. His face paled and he looked sick for a moment.

"Am...am I...?"

“No, not yet,” Edward answered.

“Not yet?” Seth questioned. “What do you mean by ‘not yet’?”

Edward and Jacob shared a heavy look before the vampire turned to Seth. "I know this is going to sound impossible..." his eyes flickered to Jasper. "Male shifters can carry children."

Seth’s eyes widened and he looked at Jasper then back at the other two. He laughed softly. “No, no way. I mean it even sounds ridiculous.” Though, even as he said these words thoughts of being able to have children with Jasper started to form in his mind, just thinking about it made him feel warm… like it was right.

"I'm serious, Seth."

Jasper could sense his brother's feelings, he knew he was serious about it, but at the same time it wasn't something that would affect him and Seth anytime soon.

“I can tell you are… but it’s hard to believe you know? I mean… guys don’t have kids with other guys unless they adopt. I guess I’ll have to see it before I really believe it,” Seth replied.

Edward heaved a sigh, looking at his brother. "I know you don't have to worry about this anytime soon, but be safe when you do."

Jasper nodded, his arm tightening around Seth’s waist. “Of course, I wouldn’t do anything to endanger Seth.”

Seth blushed as he looked down at his feet with a smile.

"I know you wouldn't," Edward replied, heaving a soft sigh as he rubbed the back of his neck. "So...how long has this been going on...?" He asked, changing the subject.

“…Two… maybe three hours?” Seth guessed. “I was really excited when Leah told us about the baby.”

Edward snorted softly at that. "Well. Congratulations to you two too," he replied, grinning at the pair.

Seth returned the smile with one of his own. “We, Leah and I, are going to stay here tonight with everything that’s happened.”

Edward's smile turned teasing, but Jasper said something before Edward could. "Don't you start, Edward..." the elder vampire said, glaring at his brother. "You will not like the result."

Edward chuckled at that, holding up his hands in defeat. "Alright. Alright. You're safe. For now."

Seth looked between the two but then decided that he didn’t want to know. Looking up at Jasper he asked, “Can I tell Jake? Or does he already know?”

"Know about what?" Jacob asked, looking between the two, confused. "Is there something else I missed?"

Jasper chuckled softly. "Obviously he has no idea," he replied, smiling down at Seth.

Seth smiled widely, excitement coming off of him in waves again. “So can I tell him? I know you said you weren’t supposed to say anything…”

"Tell him," Jasper replied before looking up at Jacob. "But you can't tell Leah."

Seth looked around to make sure his sister wasn’t around before he left Jasper’s arms to lean up to Jacob and whisper in his ear, “Emmett’s gonna ask Leah to marry him!”

Jacob's eyes widened. "Seriously!"

“Tomorrow… he thinks,” Jasper confirmed.

"Wow! That's great news!" Jacob said, grinning.

Seth nodded. “She’s going to be so excited. With the baby and all I’m gonna try to convince her to go for a Christmas one. Leah would be so pretty in a white dress at Christmas.”

Edward chuckled softly at that. "He's beginning to sound like Alice," he teased.

"That's right!" Jasper said, looking at Seth. "I almost forgot to ask after everything's that happened, but would you like to call Alice and talk to her?"

Seth nodded almost immediately. “Can I?”

"Certainly," Jasper replied with a smile.

“Okay! When?”

"Right now?"

Seth was suddenly nervous. “You’re sure she’ll talk to me?”

"She will, not to worry." Jasper's voice was reassuring as he beckoned the boy to follow him, leaving Edward and Jacob to whisper quietly in the hall.

Seth nodded and followed Jasper so Carlisle’s study so he could have as much privacy as he was going to get in a house of vampire’s. “I can call from in here?” Seth questioned.

Jasper nodded, closing the door behind the younger. "Carlisle won't mind. His is the most private room in the house. I figured you'd appreciate it."

Seth sat in the chair behind the desk, looking around the room in awe. It was so Carlisle…at least what he knew of the oldest vampire. “You have the number?”

"Mhm," Jasper replied, taking the phone from the hook before he dialed the number and handed it to Seth.

Seth took the phone, his hand shaking just a little. Holding it to his ear he listened to the other end ring, waiting for Alice to pick up.

---

Jasper certainly knew what Edward found so addicting about watching someone you cared about sleeping. There was something so peaceful about Seth while he slept and his emotions were so balanced.

Seth stretched in his sleep before he turned over and blinked a couple of times at Jasper. He was adorable. Yawning, Seth brought a hand up and rubbed at his eyes. “Is it morning yet?”

"Mhm. Esme made you, Leah, and Jacob some breakfast. It's waiting for you downstairs. I was going to wake up, but..." Jasper said, smiling softly. "You were too cute to disturb."

Seth blushed and smiled before he sniffed the air. “It smells great.” Sitting up he stretched again. He looked confused for a moment before looking at Jasper. “This is going to seem like a really dumb question but is today a school today?”

Jasper couldn't help but to grin at the flush that covered the boy's cheeks before he shook his head. "No. It's not a school day. Today's Sunday," he replied, sitting on the edge of the boy's bed, running his fingers through his hair.

Seth leaned into the touch as he let out a sigh of relief. “Good, I’d be dead if mom found out I missed school after staying over here.”

"If you would've had school, I would've made sure you were up and going."

Seth smiled. “You’re too good to me.”

Jasper chuckled softly at that, leaning forward to press his lips against the teen's forehead. "I think you have that backwards."

“But… I haven’t really done anything for you… yet.”

"You don't have to do anything for me," Jasper replied seriously. "You being here is enough."

Seth was confused but Jasper didn’t elaborate. Before he could ask Seth’s stomach growled loudly. “Guess I’d better go enjoy that breakfast huh?”

Jasper laughed at that and stood up, holding out his hand to help the younger up. "Come on."

Seth smiled and took the offered hand. They went downstairs to the kitchen where Jacob already sat eating, Edward beside him reading the paper. “Morning guys.”

"Morning," Jacob replied, though it was garbled because his mouth was full.

Seth rolled his eyes as Esme brought him a plate piled high with anything he could want for breakfast. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome sweetie,” she replied giving his head a motherly kiss. “And there’s more on the stove if you want seconds.”

Seth nodded, trying to decide where to start. “Hey, I wonder when Emmett will propose…” A scream of pure delight and joy echoed through the house. “today. Well, I guess that answers that.”

Moments later Leah came running down the stairs, the biggest smile Seth had ever seen on her face. “Emmett asked me to marry him!” She exclaimed. “Look!” She held her hand out so they could see the ring on her finger.

"That's great, sis!" Seth said, jumping from his seat (his breakfast momentarily forgotten) to look at the ring and then throw his arms around his sister.

“Congratulations,” Jasper told her with a smile.

“Thank you!” Leah beamed as she hugged Seth. “Seth… I know you might not want to do this but I would love for you to be my maid of honor.” She didn’t have anyone she was closer to now, other than Emmett of course.

Seth pulled back. “Really?! I’d love to!”

Emmett came in right at that moment and was immediately swamped by Esme, squeezing the life out of the chuckling vampire.

Seth grinned at the bigger vampire. “Welcome to the family bro!”

"Glad to be a part of it," Emmett replied.

Esme let Emmett go and came to give Leah a much less intense hug. “You will make a beautiful bride, but right now you need to eat. Sit and I’ll bring you a plate.”

Leah nodded. "Right," she said before sitting in a chair Seth had pulled out for her.

“When’s the wedding going to be?” Seth asked. “I’m putting in my vote for Christmas.”

"As soon as the divorce papers clear," Emmett replied, moving to stand behind Leah's chair, his hands resting on her shoulders as he leaned down to press a kiss to her cheek. "So Christmas time is a very good possibility."

Leah nodded. “I love the idea of a Christmas wedding.”

Seth beamed at that and Jasper could feel his delight rolling off in waves, caressing him in an oh so gentle way.

Esme set a plate down in front of Leah. “Eat.”

Seth chuckled softly and returned to his breakfast. Between bites he and Leah talked about wedding details. Their equal excitement made Jasper smile as he watched them.

The influx of happiness and excitement made Jasper feel somewhat giddy, it was hard keeping the grin off of his face...eventually he just gave up. It was something he would have to get used to, Seth was fully of bubbly excitement and deep, bone numbing happiness.

“Do you have to tell Sam?” Seth questioned as they were finishing.

Leah frowned at that, poking at the food on her plate. "I don't see why..." she replied, sighing softly.

"You'll need to tell him about the baby," Jacob pointed out in seriousness. "And talk with Carlisle about phasing. It might harm the baby."

“I can come with you if needed,” Carlisle said as he entered the room.

Leah nodded. "That might be best," she replied, biting her bottom lip before she took another bite of her food.

"I'm coming too," Emmett added.

“Do you think Sam will feel threatened with everyone showing up?” Seth wondered.

Jacob shook his head, swallowing his food before speaking. "He'd be threatened if I tagged along."

Seth and Leah both nodded. “Carlisle and Emmett will be enough,” Leah said. Seth immediately started to jump in saying he wanted to come too but Leah gave him a look. “They will be enough.”

Seth sighed and nodded. “Alright, I’ll stay here. Jasper and I can find something to do.” He gave his imprint a smile.

Leah nodded, satisfied with that. "Everything will be alright," she assured her brother before looking at Emmett and Carlisle. "I want to tell my mom first, though," she pointed out.

“Oh yeah, good decision to stay here… but you’re sure? I know you won’t be alone but mom…” Seth started.

“I can handle mom,” Leah replied.

“I know you can… I just worry; it’s my job as your bother.”

"I know and I appreciate it, really, I do." Leah's smile was sincere as were her words and emotions that Jasper could sense. "But I'll be fine, Seth."

He nodded and stood. “Wanna go for a walk Jasper?”

Jasper's eyes flickered to the teen's and he nodded. "Sure," he replied easily.

Seth smiled. “Great, let me just run upstairs and change.”

"I'll be waiting," Jasper replied.

Seth nodded and disappeared up the stairs, he returned a few minutes later wearing the jeans and shirt he had worn the day before as he didn’t have clothes at the Cullen’s house yet. He would have to bring some with him the next time he went home and came back. “Ready.”

Jasper watched the boy disappear up the stairs and would've been content to stare after him, but Leah had other plans. She got his attention and gave him a hard look. "If you hurt him...I'll hurt you, got it?" He could tell she was being serious, but it was still a struggle not to laugh. He managed to nod just as Seth returned and announced he was ready. Honestly he did not think she'd have to worry about him hurting Seth, he didn't think he'd do so willingly.

“I promise you Leah,” Jasper replied as he came to stand next to Seth.

“Promise what?” Seth questioned.

“Nothing, Leah is just being a protective sister,” Jasper answered. Seth rolled his eyes as he looked at her. Leah shrugged.

“It’s my job, I am your sister.”

Seth laughed. “Just turn my words back on me why don’t you?” He slipped his hand into Jasper’s. “Let’s go.”

Jasper laced their fingers together, loving the feel of Seth's hand in his own, as he turned to the teen and nodded.

Together they left the house and headed toward the meadow they had chased fireflies in. It was a warm October day, though there was a bit of chill in the air. Seth was still perfectly comfortable in just his t-shirt and jeans. “This should be our place,” Seth said. “Like how Edward has his sulking meadow, this can be ours… only I doubt we’ll use it to sulk.”

"It's almost impossible to sulk when you're around, Seth," Jasper replied, glancing around the meadow, noticing how different it looked in the sunlight.

Seth blushed. “Is that a bad thing?”

Jasper shook his head, looking back at the younger shifter, offering him a reassuring smile. "Not at all," he replied. "It's a nice change from everyone else. I like the way you make me feel, Seth."

Seth grinned. “I’m glad I can make you feel good.”

Jasper's smile widened as he pulled the teenager closer, wrapping his other arm around him. He couldn't begin to express the way Seth made him feel. It was warmth, happiness, and an intense longing all at once. Sometimes it was maddening and sometimes he wondered how he had gone so long without it.

Just being around Seth was almost as addicting as kissing him, the vampire thought as his hand touched the boy's cheek and then he leaned down and pressed his lips against his.

Seth made a small noise in his throat as he leaned into the kiss. He found kissing Jasper to be just as addicting as Jasper found kissing him. Wrapping his arms around Jasper’s neck he pulled the vampire closer, the differences in their body temperature’s creating a sweet friction.

Seth’s knees went weak as the kiss went from closed mouth to open. “Mmph.” Slowly they lowered to the ground so that Jasper was laying half on Seth and half off. Jasper broke the kiss so Seth could catch his breath before claiming his mouth again.

Control had always been an issue for Jasper. For as long as he could remember he toed the line between resistance and complete chaos, but that had to do with blood. Since Seth had imprinted on him the vampire hadn’t thought about a human or their blood. Any spare time he had to think, his thoughts were full of Seth. Seth. Seth. Seth.

Even now.

He found himself toeing the line once more. His body thrumming deliciously and Seth’s emotions consuming him. He didn’t want to stop nor remain static. He wanted more, but Seth was young. Even though he could pass for a full grown man…he was young mentally.

Seth’s body was warm against his own and, for now, he knew that he was okay. He was in control so long as Seth didn’t press for more. If the teen wanted what he couldn’t be ready for…then Jasper wasn’t sure he could stop.

A hand left Jasper’s neck to bury itself in his hair. He gripped the hair tightly, the strands like silk between his fingers. Jasper pulled back to stare at the flush on Seth’s cheeks, the rise and fall of the younger’s chest… knowing he caused that. He smiled as he cupped one of Seth’s cheeks and kissed him again, lightly this time, not letting it last to long.

“Jazz…” Seth breathed with a smile.

Jasper returned the smile, nuzzling his nose with Seth’s before he pressed a chaste kiss to his cheek. “How long did you want to stay out here?” He asked, having lost track of time while he was otherwise occupied with the younger’s presence.

“With you time does not exist,” Seth told him as he laid his head back in the grass. “But we can stay as long as you like… though I do have school tomorrow.”

Jasper buried his face in the younger’s neck, inhaling his sweet scent. “I don’t want you to miss school. Not on my account,” he murmured softly against his skin before lifting his head again, looking down at the younger. “We’ll stay until you get tired. How about that?”

Seth nodded. “Yeah… we wouldn’t my mom hating you more than she already does.” He raised a hand and lightly traced Jasper’s features with his fingers.

Jasper snorted softly at that, but did not say anything else pertaining to Seth’s mother. He knew that if the woman had it her way…he’d never see Seth. She wouldn’t allow them to be together even if it would harm her son.

They lay together until the sun stated to set. Seth had slept until nearly noon so he wasn’t tired but his stomach had started to growl. He groaned at having to move, having to give this time up. “Sometimes I really hate our high metabolisms.”

Jasper laughed softly and laid his hand against Seth’s stomach. “Sometimes I really think it’s cute,” he replied, turning his head slightly to press a kiss to the shifter’s cheek. “Let’s go get you some dinner.”

Seth nodded and sat up. Jasper got to his feet and offered a hand to the younger. Seth smiled as he took the hand and Jasper pulled him to his feet. Hand in hand they walked back to the Cullen house where Esme already had supper ready. After eating Seth and Jasper disappeared up into Jasper’s room for another couple of hours before Seth knew he had to be heading home.
---

A few nights later Seth lay pressed up against Jasper on the vampire’s futon. The clock read 10:47. Seth sighed as his arm around the vampire tightened. He had been avoiding going home, ever since Leah had told their mother about the wedding and her pregnancy she had been a nightmare. Leah had moved in with the Cullen’s, she had begged Seth to come too but he just couldn’t leave their mother like that.

“Mom will be furious if I stay on a school night,” he told Jasper.

The vampire heaved a sigh. “I know,” Jasper answered, wanting more than anything to be allowed to visit the shifter at night, but he couldn’t risk it. Sue had only grown more vigilant since Leah had moved in with their family.

Seth nuzzled Jasper's neck, pressing a kiss to the skin just below one ear. "I'll see you tomorrow."

“I’ll pick you up after school…and help you with your homework…” Jasper replied, his lips curling into a grin at the gentle kiss bestowed upon him. “I mean, if that’s alright with you.”

“If it wasn’t then something would be wrong,” Seth replied. He stole one last kiss from Jasper’s lips before heading downstairs, Jasper walking behind him. Outside he removed his clothes and phased, Jasper giving his ear a good scratch before Seth took off into the woods.

Esme appeared next to Jasper watching the blonde wolf disappear into the trees. “Seth is a very handsome wolf.”

Jasper hummed his agreement, still staring at the spot in his woods where the wolf had disappeared in. “He is,” he replied, looking over at the woman. “But his emotions…and the way he feels them…that’s so much more beautiful.”

“How so?” She questioned.

“He’s so positive…and so pure…” Jasper replied, biting his bottom lip. He wasn’t sure how to explain it to Esme. It wasn’t something he could explain. “He’s makes me feel like a better person by just being around him. I want to be better around him.”

Esme smiled. “Sounds like love to me.”

Jasper couldn’t say he was surprised to hear that, but it still shocked him none the less. How could you possibly love someone and not know it? He had loved Alice, but his feelings for Seth didn’t feel anything like the feelings he once held for Alice. It was all confusing.

Esme’s smile widened and she put a hand on his shoulder. “Love is one of those things you will never completely figure out. You may think you have it all figured out and then something happens and throws it all off again.”

Jasper chuckled softly at that. “I’m beginning to realize that…” he agreed, sighing softly. “It just…it feels different…I feel like I’m drowning, but I can’t help but to want to be around him more. I never felt like that with Alice.”

“What you had with Alice was beautiful, in its own way. But this with Seth… it is deeper and that makes it even more special,” Esme agreed.

Jasper nodded slowly. “I just…didn’t expect it to happen so suddenly…” he replied, sighing softly.

“Love, and the things it makes you do, will often surprise you,” she told him. “Oh, I have a question for you.”

The vampire couldn’t help, but to agree with that before he glanced at his mother again. “I’ll do my best to answer it.”

“Since Leah has moved in and I’m sure Seth will be staying over more, perhaps eventually moving in himself, I am ordering us all new beds. The room you have now is to small so you need to move again, which room would you like and what kind of bed do you think Seth would prefer?”

Jasper blinked. “The room doesn’t matter, but I’ll have to ask Seth about the bed. I’m not sure,” he replied.

“Well there are plenty to choose from, you know that… you could even have your and Alice’s old room if you wanted, she called and asked me to pack everything away. Be sure to find out tomorrow, I would like to have the beds here by midweek.”

“I’ll talk to Seth about it tomorrow,” Jasper promised and intended to do so before he got too caught up in the younger’s presence.

Esme nodded and went back inside the house.

---

Seth phased at the edge of the woods in front of his house, changing back into his clothes before heading up to the porch. He shivered, not from the air being cold… no, the house just felt wrong without Leah. Sighing softly Seth shook his head, he wouldn’t let this come between himself and his mother, he loved her to much for that but he knew there would only be so much he could take before he moved out too.

“Mom, I’m home,” he called entering the house.

Sue Clearwater stepped out of the kitchen, her hands crossed in front of her. “Over at the leech’s, hm?” She asked almost immediately, causing Seth to sigh heavily.

“They aren’t ‘the leechs’ mom, they are the Cullens, all of whom are very nice people.”

“Still vampires…” Sue snorted softly. “I made you dinner, but I’m guessing you had dinner with your sister. It’s in the oven if you’re hungry.”

“I did, but I’m always hungry,” Seth replied going into the kitchen and getting a plate. He took a towel and opened the oven pulled the pan of spaghetti out with it in case it was still hot. “Smells good.”

“There’ll be some left over for you to take to lunch tomorrow,” Sue replied, joining her son back in the kitchen.

“Alright, sounds good.” Seth scooped some of the spaghetti out onto his plate before putting the pan back into the oven. “How was your day?”

“Busy,” Sue replied softly, sighing.

“I’m sure.” This conversation was so tense… it shouldn’t be but it was. Seth didn’t want to make his mother angry by bringing up the subject of Leah moving out or the baby, even though he was still very exciting about becoming an uncle. He wondered if his mother was excited about her first grandchild at all but didn’t dare ask.

Sue sat at the table and watched her son eat for a moment. “Are you coming home from school tomorrow or going of to…his house?”

“Jasper is going to pick me up from school and help me with my homework. I got an A on that project for history that he was helping me with. My teacher said it was the best in the grade,” Seth told her as he ate.

“Try to make it home before dinner, please,” Sue asked, her lips pulled into a frown.

Seth nodded. “I’ll try.” He stood, taking his empty plate to the sink to rinse it. “I’m gonna take a shower and go to bed, anything you need me to do before that?”

“No. Go ahead and go to bed,” Sue replied, she’d take care of the dishes herself a little later on.

“Alright.” Seth came to her side, leaned down and kissed her cheek. “I love you mom.”

“Love you too.”

Seth gave her one of his famous smiles and then headed back to his room. After taking a shower he packed a duffle bag of clothes to take with him in the morning so he would have stuff to change into when staying all night at the Cullen’s, he set this bag under his open window. He was about to put the shirt he had worn that day in the dirty clothes when a certain scent caught his attention. Raising the shirt to his face he took in a deep breath and smiled. It smelled like Jasper.
