Seth was quiet on the way back to the house, his hand holding tightly to Jasper’s. The younger felt guilty for trying to pressure Jasper into something they both wanted but weren’t ready for. Jasper raised Seth’s hand to his lips and kissed it. Seth gave him a small smile but there was still a bit of sadness to it.

“I have something to show you,” Jasper told him. Curiosity quickly overpowered Seth’s guilt and Jasper had to smile.

“What?”

“Esme told me they arrived while I was gone, they set it up but we can move it if we want.”

Seth’s eyes widened. “The bed? Wow that was fast!”

“You know Esme. She works fast,” Jasper replied softly. “Probably had it delivered express.”

Seth nodded. “Let’s go see it, I wonder if she got a comforter and stuff… I escaped before she and Leah could ask me about that.”

“I believe she said something about the colors brown and blue,” Jasper told him.

“Hm… I wonder if that will be to dark down there?” Seth questioned.

“I don’t know for sure if those were the colors she got or not, but if you don’t like them we can always get you something different,” Jasper pointed out in a matter of factly tone, leading Seth down to their bedroom to show him the bed.

Seth flipped the light switch at the top of the stairs as they passed and then another at the bottom that lit most of the basement. He smiled when he saw that the bed had been put in the place they had thought to put it before. Letting go of Jasper’s hand he walked over to get a better look.

“I think with the lights on it works,” he said nodding. Then he turned and jumped onto the bed so that he was lying on his back. “Oh wow! Jazz, it’s so comfortable!”

Jasper smiled and continued down the stairs. “So it’s a keeper then?” He asked, stopping in front of the foot of the bed.

“Mhm! C’mon, lay down with me.”

As Seth patted the spot next to him, Jasper rounded the side of the bed before climbing into it. It felt just the same as any other bed to him, comfort wasn’t really important when there was nothing short of emotions that could make him uncomfortable. Lying on his side he reached for the younger teen, pulling him closer.

Seth smiled and snuggled closer to Jasper, tucking his head under the elder’s chin as he wrapped his arms around Jasper in return. “So…Seattle? Should we make plans for this weekend or wait until the funeral’s are over?”

“Whichever you want to do,” Jasper replied. “I’m not exactly sure when the funerals will be, but I know they won’t be this weekend.”

Seth hummed. “Yeah, this weekend sounds good. By the time it gets here I’m sure we’ll be thankful for the time away. You think I should ask my mom? Or just not mention it?”

“You should at least mention it,” Jasper replied, frowning. “I wouldn’t want her worrying and then calling around trying to find you.”

“Alright,” Seth sighed. “It won’t be pretty. If she had her way I wouldn’t come over after school.”

“I know,” Jasper said, sighing softly before he leaned down to press a kiss to Seth’s forehead.

“You think it would bother Carlisle or Esme… if I moved in here?”

“I doubt they’d have a problem with it at all,” Jasper replied softly. “That’s why Esme insisted on beds for everyone…to make you feel more at home.”

Happiness brushed over Jasper’s senses. “…and you?”

“Do I want you to move in?” Jasper asked as though the answer was obvious and, really, he thought it would’ve been. “Of course I do.”

Seth smiled and turned his head up to kiss Jasper. “I know, I just wanted to hear it.”

Jasper didn’t say anything right away. After a moment of silent cuddling, he asked, “Are things really that bad at home with your mother? Besides her not allowing me in the house?”

Seth was quiet for a moment before he sighed. “She barely talks to me anymore. She’s always so mad… I stay in my room most of the time when I’m home. She says that things would be different if dad was still alive. She hasn’t hit me anymore… It’s just not home, this, with you is home.”

Jasper frowned slightly at that explanation, but accepted it. “What if you moving in here hurt your mother? Would you be able to handle that?”

Seth buried his face against Jasper’s neck and tightened his arms around Jasper’s body. “I don’t know…” He whispered. “But I’m already hurting her now… how much different could it be?”

“It could be a lot different,” Jasper pointed out softly, tightening his grip on the teen. “But you’ve got to do what makes you happy.”

“I’ll give it some more time,” Seth decided after a few minutes. “Til the wedding. Do you think it would be wrong to try and get her to come… I mean, if Leah wants her there?”

“I don’t think it’s wrong at all. Leah’s only going to get married once…what mother would want to miss that. Even if they don’t like the groom.”

“Ours. Where do you think Leah gets her stubborn streak from?” Seth questioned.

Jasper had to struggle against the urge to laugh at that. “If she misses it, it’ll be her loss. At least you can say you tried.”

Seth grinned. “That’s right!”

---

Jasper looked over at Seth while shoving his wallet into his back pocket. “Your mom didn’t give you any trouble, did she?” He asked, grabbing his car keys next. “And you don’t mind if we take the mustang, right? Emmett’s got my truck.”

“Not much,” Seth confirmed. “And why would I mind?”

“Because I won’t let you drive it yet,” Jasper teased, nudging the younger boy before snickering softly.

Seth rolled his eyes with an amused smile. “Once I’m 16 though…Ready?”

“You’ll have to pry the keys out of my dead, cold hand.” Jasper laughed.

“What! You’re not even going to let me drive after I’m of age?”

Again Jasper laughed. Even as he pulled the teen to him, pressing a kiss to the top of his head. “I’m kidding. Of course I’ll let you drive it.”

Seth smiled. “Awesome! I can’t wait.” They headed up the stairs; Esme gave Seth a note with the title of a book she wanted them to pick up while in Seattle. After she had kissed his cheek, he and Jasper headed out to the garage and Jasper’s mustang. “What kind of stuff are we looking for today?”

“Well…besides books?” Jasper asked, looking over at Seth. “There’s something I need to pick up for our bedroom,” he replied, looking away so he wouldn’t be tempted to tell Seth what it was he had ordered.

“What did you get?” Seth questioned curious. “Or is it a surprise?”

“It’s a surprise and it is something you told me not to get,” Jasper replied with a grin.

“Jazz!” Seth exclaimed. “I told you to wait until Christmas and my birthday.”

Jasper shrugged. “Consider it a late birthday and Christmas present.”

“…From last year? Jazz… you find a loophole in everything don’t you?”

Jasper only smiled and shrugged.

Seth sighed. “Guess this just means I won’t be able to accept anything from you this year.”

“Oh yes you will,” Jasper replied, grinning. “Because what I’m getting today is for last year.”

“But Jazz… there’s only like two months til Christmas this year. It doesn’t seem right,” Seth argued.

“It’s perfectly right and I won’t take no for an answer,” Jasper replied, giving the younger a stern look.

Seth pouted half the way to Seattle until Jasper picked up his hand and started to kiss his fingers. After the third kiss he was smiling again. “That tickles!”

“But it got you to smile again and laugh,” Jasper pointed out, grinning widely.

“You aren’t playing fair, I can’t tickle you!”

“I’m not ticklish,” Jasper replied.

"Well yeah... obvious reasons aside."

Jasper snorted with laughter and continued driving towards Seattle.

Jasper parked outside the bookstore that Esme’s order was at. “You go in and start looking around. I’m going to pick up your surprise and then I’ll join you.”

“You’re gonna make me wait until we get home?” Seth questioned with wide eyes.

“Oh yes,” Jasper replied in a matter of factly tone. “You’re so cute when you want something.”

“You just like to tease me,” Seth stated as he got out of the car and closed the door. Jasper knew he was annoyed but it was a good natured type of annoyance so he didn’t worry about it.

“If you’d stop looking so cute while I teased you, then maybe I wouldn’t do it anymore,” Jasper replied, still smiling.

Jasper went and got the item he had ordered for Seth, put it in the trunk and then went into the bookstore. It wasn’t hard to find Seth, his smell… that warm, earthy smell that Jasper had gotten so used to, led him straight to the young adult fiction section. Seth was looking at a small book. The cover read The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod: Eighth Grade Bites.

“That’s one I haven’t read before,” Jasper said thoughtfully, looking over the teen’s shoulder at the cover of the book he was reading.

“It’s about a boy who is half human/half vampire,” Seth told him. “It sounds pretty good and the fourth one just came out.”

Jasper hummed softly. “Might as well get the whole series,” he told the younger teen, laying his hand on his shoulder.

Seth chuckled. “With the way we read I’d have to agree.” He picked up the four books and looked up at Jasper. “What books are you going to look for?”

Jasper shrugged, stepping away from Seth to survey the rows of books. “Anything that catches my eye, I suppose. I had nothing in mind when we set out today.”

“…and I can get anything I want?” Seth questioned.

Jasper smiled at that. “Of course,” he replied.

“That completely blows my mind.” Seth laughed. He had always had to save his allowance for months before he could buy as many books as he wanted, even then it was usually limited to three. “Oh! I was thinking before you got here. We need some things for the room.”

Jasper nodded in agreement, glancing at Seth as he grabbed a book from the shelf that had caught his eye. “We can do that after we’re done here,” he replied.

“Okay,” Seth agreed, smiling at how Jasper just grabbed a book. They spent the next three hours looking at various books, only going to the check out desk when they couldn’t carry anymore. Seth fished around in his pockets for the note Esme had given him. “I also need to pick up this book for Esme Cullen please.”

The girl at the counter, after eyeing Jasper appreciatively, nodded and disappeared into the back room to retrieve it. Moments later she returned with it in hand. “It’s already been paid for,” the cashier said, setting it on the counter top before ringing up the rest of their books.

Seth’s eyes widened at the amount that appeared on the register screen. Looking at Jasper he took the elder’s hand. “Are you really sure this is okay?”

Jasper bit back his chuckle and nodded at the younger boy, squeezing his hand before getting his wallet and the credit card out of it. “Its fine, Seth. Don’t worry about it. This is nothing.”

Nothing he says…’ Seth mused shaking his head. Jasper’s “nothing” would have taken him about two years to save. Watching Jasper pay Seth thought that he could get used to this but it was still uncomfortable. Maybe he would get used to it in time.

“Here you are, please come again!” The cashier said with a smile.

“Have a nice day,” Seth told her with a smile as he picked up one of the bags that was packed full of books.

Jasper got the other bag and the receipt before leading Seth to the exit. “Did you get everything you wanted?” He asked, curious as he grinned, looking down at the younger teen.

“More than that,” Seth answered. “Book shopping with you is fun.”

The elder snickered softly at that. “I’m glad you enjoyed yourself. I had fun too,” Jasper replied.

Jasper gave Seth the keys to unlock the car and then took the bag of books he had from him so he wouldn’t see the surprise in the trunk. After closing the trunk he joined Seth on the sidewalk again. “Now what else did you think of?”

“Well, your bookshelves for one. We should get bedside tables, one for each side… um… a lamp for your side of the bed so you can read while I sleep without having the main lights on. And…” Seth paused as he tried to remember. “Oh! And a coffee table to put in front of the futon.”

“You know I don’t need a lamp, right…?” Jasper pointed out. “Vampire and all.” He shrugged. “So…? Furniture store?” He asked, pointing to one close by, within walking distance.

“You can totally see in the dark? I thought you guys needed a little bit of light,” Seth said as they walked to the furniture store.

Jasper shrugged. “Depends on the vampire, I suppose. But I’m fairly adapt at functioning in the dark, but if you want a lamp, you got it.”

Seth looked thoughtful. “Just a small one then, not one that stands on the floor.”

Jasper nodded. “That’ll work,” he replied.

Seth smiled and looked around. “Is it okay to hold hands in public? I know I took yours in the bookstore but that’s different than being out here walking.”

Jasper blinked at that, not answering the question right way, instead he silently mulled over it for a moment. “Well…given your age…it probably wouldn’t be the best of ideas,” he replied. He felt, rather than seen the change of emotions in the teenager. “But, you don’t look your age.”

Seth nodded, sticking his hands in his pockets so he wouldn’t be tempted. “We won’t risk it.”

Jasper nodded, stowing his own hands away in his pockets so he wouldn’t be tempted as well. “Do you want to get some lunch after this?”

“I could always eat,” Seth replied grinning.

Jasper chuckled at that. “That answers that question. We’ll go to lunch after we look at the furniture store.”

“Okay,” Seth agreed. “Is there anything you can think of that we need?”

“Nothing other than what you mentioned,” Jasper replied before he teasingly nudged the teen. “Unless you want to go clothes shopping. I may not be Alice, but she gave me a fashion sense.”

Seth made a face. “No thanks! I only buy clothes when I absolutely need to and even then Leah has to drag me into the store.”

Jasper chuckled at that. "Being a shifter you must have to go clothes shopping a lot though," he pointed out.

“In the beginning…yeah. As we become more stable then we can take our clothes off first and then phase, so it’s not as bad. We can go if you really want to, it might be a better experience with you than my sister,” Seth mused.

Jasper nodded in understanding, humming in thought. "Well…do you need more clothes?" He asked, looking over at the younger teen. "Or, let me rephrase that, would you like clothes for my house?"

“Not many, but a few might be a good idea,” Seth agreed. “We can go after lunch.”

Jasper nodded in agreement. "Sounds like a plan," he replied. "Let's check out the furniture store," he said, walking up to the door and holding it open for Seth. "I also need to look at computer desks…"

“Are you getting a computer?” Seth questioned as he walked into the store.

"Mhm," Jasper hummed in agreement. "After Alice left I decided to go back to school…peruse another degree," he explained with a grin. "Classes are starting up soon and I'm taking the majority of them online."

“That’s a good idea! I mean, otherwise you’d have to leave…” Sadness brushed over Jasper’s senses for a moment before Seth smiled at him. “What degree are you going to get?”

He couldn't bare the thought of leaving the younger shifter, he had realized that when he was choosing his classes and it had been the main reason he had picked online classes in the first place. "I'm branching out in the fields of psychology. Trying to finish off my degree in criminal psychology."

“And will you do anything with it once you have it?”

"I might. I might not," Jasper replied with a shrug before grinning at the teen. "I might reenroll in high school after I'm done to spend the year with you."

“Wouldn’t that be too soon? They would know you wouldn’t they?” Seth questioned.

"There are other schools in the area," Jasper pointed out. "This is all assuming you'd consider going to a high school off the reservation," he added with a shrug. "If not, I could always go to college with you like Edward plans on doing with Jacob."

“I would be open to going to school off the rez,” Seth replied. They found the section in the store that was nothing but various shelves, including bookshelves. “And we could still go to college together. Though, I have no idea what I want to get a degree in.”

"And you have plenty of time to figure out what you want to do," Jasper replied, surveying the shelves, knowing they'd need a rather large one since they both were avid readers.

“I do,” Seth agreed. He bumped his hip against Jasper’s with a grin. “And I’m sure you’ll be able to help me figure it out. Should we get just one big shelf or more than one 36’’ wide shelves?”

"It'd probably be easier to keep a few 36' shelves neat than one big one," Jasper pointed out thoughtfully.

Seth nodded. “The wall we thought about putting them on is 180 inches so we could fit five of the 36 inch shelves.”

Jasper nodded in agreement. "We'd have room left over for more trips to the book store," he replied with a grin.

Seth laughed. “That we would.”

A sales associate approached with the classic salesman smile. “Have you gentlemen made a decision?”

“We’d like five of these bookshelves please,” Seth told him pointing at the design they had settled on.

“An excellent choice. Will these be all for you?”

“No, we have a few other things to look at,” Seth answered.

"Of course," The salesman replied with a smile. "I'll leave you two to it while I ring these up. If you need any help, don't hesitate to ask."

After the salesman walked away Seth looked at Jasper and said, “Well at least he isn’t one of those pushy salesmen. So; bedside tables, coffee table and lamps.”

"That's because we were buying something with the intention of buying more," Jasper pointed out in a matter of factly tone, leading Seth towards the section for tables and such.

“I see… I’ll have to remember that for the future. For the bedside tables we should get something that matches the bed. I think it was a dark wood, cherry maybe?” Seth questioned.

Jasper nodded in agreement. "That's right," he said, heading for the tables made from the mentioned wood type.

“Think we’ll need drawers?” Seth questioned.

"We might as well get side tables with drawers, just in case," Jasper replied, shrugging.

Seth nodded walking among the tables until one set caught his eye. He kneeled down and ran his hand over the wood and pulled the drawer out. “This one Jazz!” He called.

Jasper was in a completely different section, looking at coffee tables since Seth had a handle on side tables. When his name was called he returned to Seth's side. "Two of them?" He questioned, running his hand through the younger's hair.

Seth leaned into the touch with a smile. “Yeah, you think they’ll match?”

"If the store has two in stock they should…" Jasper replied thoughtfully. "If they don't we can always look somewhere else if you want a matching set."

Seth nodded. “Matching would be good. I hope they have a matching set, I really like these. Did you find a coffee table you liked?”

"Not one that was made out of cherry wood," Jasper replied, "Maybe it can match the computer desk instead of the bed?"

“Makes sense, the coffee table will be closer to the computer desk. Did you find one that you liked?” Seth asked. He picked up an extra ticket off the bedside table up to give it to the salesman when they saw him again.

Jasper nodded. "I did," he replied, taking Seth to the coffee tables to show him what he had liked.

“Do you have a computer desk in mind already? Or are you going to match it to this?” Seth questioned.

"Already have one picked out," Jasper answered.

“Alright, works for me,” Seth told him. He gave Jasper the ticket for the bedside tables to give to the salesman before wondering off to look at the lamps. He wanted to find something that wasn’t looked right on the tables they had found, but also had good shades so that if he wanted to sleep but Jasper still sit next to him then he could without being bothered.

Jasper wandered after the teen, letting him choose most of the furniture because this outting was more for Seth than it was for him. He took pleasure in seeing the younger happy.

Seth found two small lamps that had blue shades, which matched the blue in the comforter that Esme had gotten for the bed. “These will be perfect!” He told Jasper with a smile.

"Grab the tickets," Jasper replied, unable to keep the smile off of his face as Seth's happiness mingled with his own.

Seth picked up the tickets and handed them to Jasper. It didn’t take long to find the salesman, who gave them a smile as they approached.

“Did you find everything gentlemen?”

"We did," Jasper replied. "And we're ready to pay for everything and arrange to have it sent out to the house."

“Excellent, I’ll just take your tickets and make sure we have everything in stock while you fill out this information sheet that gives us your address for the delivery,” the salesman told him as he handed Jasper a clipboard with the information sheet on it. The salesman disappeared into the back while Jasper filled out the sheet.

“I really love this Jasper,” Seth said. “I can’t wait for the shelves to arrive so we can give yo-our books a new home.”

Jasper smiled at the 'our'. Liking the sound of the simple pronoun as he finished off the paperwork. "I'm glad you're happy," he replied, smiling down at the younger teen, wanting nothing more than to lean down and kiss Seth's smile.

“You need to stop looking at me like that unless you’re going to do something about it,” Seth told him quietly.

Jasper chuckled softly at that. "I will do something about it in the car," he pointed out with a smirk, speaking just as softly as Seth.

“Thank goodness for tinted windows,” Seth murmured, a light blush on his cheeks.

"Isn't that the truth," Jasper replied with a soft snort before beckoning the teen to follow him towards the front of the store to turn in the paperwork.

Seth followed Jasper to the front of the store where the salesman was waiting. “Everything is in order gentlemen. Your order should arrive within the next 3-5 business days.”

"Great," Jasper replied with a professional smile, passing the paperwork over to the man before leading Seth out of the store. "Was there any place else you wanted to go?" He asked, the smallest of smiles on his face because he could sense Seth's impatience to get back to the car.

“Food and clothes shopping can wait for now,” Seth replied. “Car, now.”

Jasper bit back the laugh, beckoning the teen to follow him back to the car, unable to keep the grin from his face.

Once they were behind the safety of the tinted windows of Jasper’s car Seth claimed Jasper’s lips. Seth tangled the fingers of one hand in Jasper’s hair while the other found a free hand of Jasper’s interlacing their fingers. Waiting hours between kisses from Jasper was much too long.

Jasper’s free hand went to the teen’s cheek, cupping the smooth skin as he leaned into the kiss, allowing Seth to lead for the time being.

Seth sighed into the kiss at the touch. He loved Jasper’s coolness mixed with his heat. Seth lightly ran his tongue along the seam of Jasper’s lips. He had promised not to bite but Jasper hadn’t said anything about tongue.

Jasper hesitated, but only for a moment before he opened his mouth and allowed Seth’s tongue to mingle with his own. But it didn’t last long. The vampire tilted the teenagers head back and snaked his own tongue into Seth’s mouth. Tasting the boy because there was less of a chance of being bitten when his tongue was in Seth’s mouth.

Seth moaned softly as their tongues battled. His grip on Jasper’s hair tightened before he pulled back panting. With a bright blush on his cheeks he gave Jasper a small smile. “Kissing you is absolutely addictive.”

Jasper grinned, nodding in agreement, though he didn’t show any outward signs of his enjoyment, his arousal was flooding his system. Seth was just…addictive. It wasn’t just the kissing. It was every thing about him.

“You okay Jazz? Your expression is a little tight.” Seth reached out and cupped Jasper’s cheek, a concerned expression on his face.

“I’m fine,” Jasper replied, his tone sounding a little more husky than he would’ve liked.

Seth’s blush deepened at the tone of Jasper’s voice. “I didn’t bite you did I? I don’t think I did… but I might have gotten caught up in the kiss. It’s so hard to resist you…”

“That’s not it. I’d be a lot worse off if that were the case,” Jasper replied, offering the younger boy a small smile. “I just really like kissing you.”

Seth smiled back. “Well that makes two of us.” Seth leaned in and kissed Jasper’s cheek. “Should we go?”

“That’d probably be best,” Jasper replied, grinning at the chaste kiss that was laid upon his cheek.

Seth nodded and climbed out of the car. He took a deep breath after shutting the door to calm his own emotions. He knew Jasper responded to his own emotions… he would have to learn how to control his emotions better around his imprint.

It took Jasper a moment longer to calm down and he didn’t even bother getting out of the car until that moment. Seth’s emotions could be overwhelming at times, not that he would ever change them, but he just wasn’t used to people feeling emotions so strongly around him.

When Jasper got out of the car Seth met him on the sidewalk. “Does any food absolutely repulse you? So I know if I should avoid anything?” He questioned.

Jasper shook his head. “Human food in general repulses me, but I’ve gotten used to it.” He glanced over at the younger boy. “So order whatever you want. Don’t worry about me. I’ve smelt worse.”

“Okay,” Seth said with a nod. He took in another deep breath and smiled. “This burger places on the corner smells like it’ll hit the spot.”

Jasper returned the smile and rested a hand on Seth’s back for a moment. “If that’s what smells good to you.”

---

“Three pairs of jeans, a couple of shirts and sleep pants, that’s it,” Seth stated as they approached the clothing store. He still didn’t like the idea of clothes shopping but also knew that Jasper might try to spoil him again.

“No shoes?” Jasper asked, knowing what Seth was trying to do, finding the poor attempt at dodging being spoiled again somewhat cute and endearing.

“I already have the one’s I’m wearing,” Seth replied pointing to his seen-better-days-but-really-comfortable tennis shoes.

Jasper looked down and his eyebrow arched. “Right,” he replied, looking back up at Seth.

“Okay… so they have a couple of holes in them… but they’re really comfortable!”

“So…? Get another pair of shoes for school,” Jasper pointed out. “You can wear your old ones around the house.”

“I only wear these to school and out, any other time I go barefoot. Shoes are hard to tie to your leg when phasing,” Seth replied.

Jasper gave him a look that clearly said, ‘You’re getting another pair of shoes.’

“Jazzz…” Seth whined. “I really don’t need another pair of shoes.”

An hour later they left the store with three new pairs of jeans, three shirts, a pair of sleep pants and much to Seth’s chagrin a new pair of tennis shoes. “I can’t believe you bought these when I wasn’t looking,” Seth grumbled.

“I told you that you were getting a new pair of shoes,” Jasper replied, a pleased grin on his face.

“You looked at me and I told you that I really didn’t need a new pair of shoes,” Seth stated. He sighed looking in the box at the new shoes. “They are nice looking…”

Jasper chuckled softly. “Glad you like them,” he replied, pleased with himself, obviously, as they walked along to the car.

“You don’t have to look so smug you know.”

“Oh yes I do.”

Seth sighed. “You know it’s really not fair right? You can get me all this stuff that I love but don’t really need… and I can’t give you anything in return.”

Jasper heaved a soft sigh. “You're wrong, Seth. You give me more than you know.”

When they got back to the car Jasper put the clothes and shoes in the trunk with everything else they had gotten earlier. After sliding in behind the steering wheel Jasper felt Seth give him a light kiss on the cheek. Seth laid his head on Jasper’s shoulder after and was quiet for a moment. “I wish I knew what it was,” he whispered. “Just so I could make sure to keep giving it to you forever.”

Jasper draped an arm over Seth's shoulders, pulling him closer. “Just...don't change, Seth. Don't ever change and then you'll always give it to me.”

Seth smiled and buried his nose against the folds of Jasper’s shirt. He took a deep breath, taking in the vampire’s smell. Once he would have been repulsed by any vampire’s smell but now Jasper’s brought him comfort. “I’ll try,” he swore.

Jasper smiled contently, carding his hand through the younger's hair. “If you do change, just make sure it's for the better.”

“With you by my side I’m sure it will be,” Seth replied.

Jasper's smile widened and he turned his head to press a kiss to the younger's forehead.

---

As Jasper pulled into his spot in the garage he could feel Seth’s excitement growing. “Do I get to know what the surprise is now? You said when we got home.”

The vampire snickered as he turned the car off and looked over at Seth. “I suppose you can see what it is...” Jasper replied with a grin.

“Hooray!” Seth exclaimed, he opened his door and climbed out, going to the back of the car to wait for Jasper.

The vampire laughed and followed, taking his time as he joined Seth at the trunk, swinging the car keys around his finger.

“Oh c’mon Jazz! Stop teasing!” Seth laughed as he tried to grab the keys from the elder but Jasper kept them out of his reach.

Jasper held them behind his back, his eyes twinkling mischievously. “I'll let you have them if, and only if, you kiss me.”

“A kiss huh?” Seth smiled as he stepped closer and wrapped his arms around Jasper’s neck. “What kind of kiss? A peck on the cheek or lips? A closed mouth? Or maybe open?”

“Hm, that's a good question,” Jasper replied, smiling thoughtfully as his hands rested on Seth's hips. “It's an awfully big surprise in the trunk...”

“So…” Seth kissed his cheek. “One…” A quick peck on the lips. “Of…” Another a bit longer on the lips. “Each?” Seth kissed Jasper a final time, teasing ever so lightly with his tongue to get Jasper to open his mouth.

Jasper smiled against Seth's lips before open his mouth for the younger's tongue, the softest of moans being swallowed by the kiss when he felt the other's tongue brush against his own.

The kiss lasted until Seth pulled away needing to breathe. He smiled at Jasper, running fingers through the golden hair. “Good enough?”

“It'll do,” Jasper answered, still smiling as he turned to the trunk of the car. “You ready?”

“I’ve been ready! Open the trunk already!”

Jasper laughed out loud and did as the younger asked before he stepped back so Seth could see.

Seth’s eyes widened and his mouth dropped open. “Y-you… a stereo!? You got a stereo! Wow! It’s so cool, and look at all the stuff it can do!”

Jasper smiled widely. Feeling Seth's elation and soaking it in like a drug, an intoxicating drug he was hopelessly addicted to. “So, I'm assuming that you like it?”

“Like it? I love it! I can’t believe you got a stereo… just…just wow!” Seth stated running a hand through his hair.

The vampire chuckled, shoving his hands in his pockets. “I'm glad you like it,” he replied.

“Can we go in and move everything from your room into the basement now so we can set it up? I want to see if it lives up to the rating on the box,” Seth questioned.

“Sure!” Jasper replied with a nod and a grin.

“Awesome!” Seth cheered. He pulled one of Jasper’s hands out of his pocket and laced their fingers together. “We’re not in public now.”

Jasper chuckled softly as he brought their joined hands to his lips, pressing a kiss to the back of the younger's hand. “I know,” he replied, giving his hand an added squeeze.

Seth smiled as a blush rose to his cheeks. Not releasing Jasper’s hand he led the other inside and up to his old room. Jasper only had the futon and his current bookshelf/books in his old room. He actually didn’t need Seth’s help to move them but the younger was so excited to help he didn’t say as such.

Once those pieces were in place they went back up to the car to get the stereo, books and clothes from the trunk. Jasper carried the stereo box down while Seth got the rest. The younger stopped for a moment to give Esme the book they had picked up for her before heading downstairs.

Jasper had continued down to the basement to set up the stereo for Seth. He was just finishing it when the younger walked into the room. “It's almost ready,” he said, handing the shifter the remote to the stereo.

“Great!” Seth set the bags of books and clothes next to the current bookshelf before coming to watch Jasper finish setting the stereo up. “Wow… it sure is impressive looking.”

“Hopefully it'll sound as good as it looks,” Jasper said, straightening back up. “It's ready.” He looked over at Seth. “Fire her up,” he requested, his southern twang shining through.

Seth grinned and stepped up to the stereo. He glanced back at Jasper as he pressed the power button. “Do you have a cowboy hat to go with that accent?”

Jasper laughed aloud at that. “I just might,” he replied with a wink.

“I want to see it sometime,” Seth said. He turned back to the stereo and started to play with the buttons trying to pick up his favorite rock station. Finally finding it he tested the sound, grinning when the product was just as promised. Turning it back down he looked at Jasper. “This is so awesome!”

“Once again. I'm glad you like it,” Jasper replied smiling.

Seth smiled up at him as he sat cross legged to listen to the songs that were playing. Jasper went to the futon and sat watching Seth bob his head back and forth with the beat. Seth was happy and that made him happy. Nearly two hours passed before Esme called to them.

“Seth! Supper is ready!”

Jasper pushed himself up from the futon, watching Seth for a moment before he stood. “You ready to go eat?” He asked, grinning.

Seth nodded as he stood and turned the stereo off. Hand in hand they went upstairs to the kitchen. Jacob, Edward, Leah and Emmett already sat at the table, the shifters with a large steak on the plates in front of them. A bowl of French fries also sat on the table so they could just take them when they wanted.

“Smells great Esme,” Seth told her.

“Thank you!” The woman said, smiling as she ran her hand through Seth's hair, leaning over to press her lips against his forehead.

Seth blushed and took the plate that she offered him. Going over to the table he sat on the other side of his sister, leaning in to give her cheek a kiss. “How was your day sis?”

“It was good,” Leah replied, nodding before she yawned widely, throwing a playful glare at Emmett who snickered at her. “Tiring, but good.”

Seth raised an eyebrow but then decided he didn’t want to know.

“How was Seattle?” Edward questioned.

“Great! We got new books, bookshelves, and some other stuff for the room downstairs. I got some new clothes and Jasper insisted on new shoes.” Seth pouted for a moment glancing at his imprint, who had sat next to him. “And then he surprised me with a kick’n stereo!”

Edward grinned at the teenager's enthusiasm, breaking out into chuckles when he saw the delighted smile on his brother's face. “Sounds like you had a good day.”

Seth nodded as he cut into his steak and started eating. “You guys had a good day too?” He asked between bites. “Or do I not want to know how you spent it?”

Edward hummed softly in thought, looking over at his lover, wolfing down his own dinner. “Jake was sick this morning,” he replied before grinning playfully at Seth. “That kinda put a damper on things...if you know what I mean...” he teased, laughing at something Jacob must've thought that was unknown to the rest of them.

“Sick?” Seth questioned looking at Jacob in concern. “Why were you sick? We don’t get sick that often.”

Jacob shrugged, setting down his fork. “Who knows. I talked to Carlisle about it.” He shot a glare at Edward; obviously it had been the vampire who had insisted he see the doctor. “But it's looking to be something I ate since I'm obviously fine now,” he replied.

Seth nodded. “Good, I don’t like the thought of my alpha being sick.”

Jacob snorted softly at that. “Your alpha doesn't like the thought of being sick either...as a matter of fact...it's making me sick...” he said, frowning as he pushed his plate away.

Again?” Edward asked, turning in his seat to face Jacob.

The shifter shook his head. “Not again...I didn't throw up...”

“Yet.”

Esme came over and laid her hand on Jacob’s forehead, like a mother would do when one of her children said they were sick. The difference in their body temperature made it impossible to tell if he had a fever but she frowned just the same. “Maybe you should speak with Carlisle again?” She suggested. “Do you want me to fix you something else?”

Jacob shook his head. Not wanting the entire house to fuss over him. “I'm fine, I'm fine.” He was insistent. He even gave Edward a stern look to cool the vampire's disbelieving gaze. “I haven't gotten sick, I just feel nauseous. If I get sick I'll tell Carlisle. Promise.”

Edward sighed after a moment. “Alright,” he agreed.

“When do I patrol next?” Seth questioned, changing the subject.

“I got tonight...”

But he couldn't even finish, before both Leah and Seth had something to say about that.

“But you're sick!”

“And you're pregnant!”

“You've got school!”

“You know,” Jasper said, cutting off the three shifters. “We vampires are perfectly capable of running patrols...”

“He's right,” Emmett pointed out, laughing at Leah's disbelieving look. “Aw, babe, I only get distracted when I patrol with you!”

“I don’t have school tomorrow, it’s Sunday,” Seth offered. “But they are right, Jasper and Emmett know the trail we follow by heart now; they’ve run it with us so many times.”

“Yeah! Edward can stay home and nurse his puppy back to health,” Emmett replied, nodding his head as he bit back snickers.

“Hey, hey easy on the puppy thing...” Jacob said, frowning. “That's very offensive...I ought to kick your ass...”

Emmett snorted, smirking. “Bring it puppy.”

“Alright boys,” Esme chided gently, laying a hand on Jacob's shoulder. “Let's not tease Jacob. He's not feeling well.” She pointedly looked at Emmett. “Jasper and Emmett running the patrols are a good idea...you guys need a night off once in awhile.”

“C’mon Jake, they can handle it,” Seth begged. “We need to make sure you stay healthy.”

“I am healthy!” Jacob pouted, actually whining as he leaned heavily against the back of his chair. He sighed heavily when he saw that no one would drop this. “Okay, okay. Night off. Fine. Great. Whatever!”

Seth snickered and gave Jasper a smile. “Do you want me to tag along and keep you company like you do me?”

Jasper laughed softly at that. “You're more than welcome to,” he replied.

“That’s not taking a night off,” Esme stated. “Stay in tonight and relax, all three of you.”

“Sounds good to me,” Leah agreed.

Seth pouted a little until Jasper laid a hand on his shoulder and gave him a smile. “Another time.”

Seth nodded. “Okay. I’ll read the first book in that series we got.”

Jasper nodded, grinning at Esme's triumphant smile; before he gave Seth's shoulder one last squeeze.

After helping Esme clean up from supper Seth and Jasper went back downstairs to spend another hour or so together before Jasper went out to do the patrol. “I’ll be so bored without you.”

The vampire carded his hand through the younger's hair. “You can spend some time with your sister...and maybe Jacob too if he's feeling better,” Jasper suggested.

“This is true, I hope Jake is okay. We really don’t get sick that often so if he is sick then it’s something serious,” Seth said biting his lip.

“I know. Edward's worried,” Jasper replied before he sighed softly.

Seth nodded. “I could tell.”

“I'm sure he'll be fine. I bet he's just tired...spending so much quality with Edward and all...” Jasper pointed out with a playful grin.

Seth laughed. “You have to get tired eventually… I mean… right?”

Jasper snickered softly. “Right,” he agreed.

“Though… I guess Edward and well you guys wouldn’t… being vampires and all… I should just stop there, this will turn into a really embarrassing conversation,” Seth said with a blush.

Again the vampire snickered. Respectful of Seth's feelings (and any repercussions that could result from such a conversation), Jasper didn't say anything more about a vampire's ability to keep going and going...and going. Seth was right. It would be an embarrassing conversation that neither of them was ready for.

Seth took Jasper’s hand and gestured to the futon. The elder smiled going over to the futon, once he was sitting Seth claimed his spot next to him, his head on Jasper’s leg. Ever since the day he had fallen asleep this way this had been his spot when laying on the futon with Jasper.

Jasper's smile was content as he weaved his hand in the boy's silky smooth hair, enjoying his dwindling time with the teenager in a quiet comfort that he had not known with Alice.

When an hour had passed Seth took Jasper’s hand and kissed his palm. “I’ll see you in the morning, thanks for doing this Jazz.”

Jasper sat up and smiled. “It's no problem,” he replied, leaning forward to press a chaste kiss against the boy's lips.

Seth sat up so that Jasper could stand. Together they went upstairs; Seth found his sister and Emmett watching a movie in the living room. After kissing Jasper goodbye once more he went to join the others.

Jasper left soon after that, joined by Emmett after he had said good-bye to Leah and linger a moment to tease Seth about the kiss. “You know...” the elder vampire said as soon as they were outside. “...he'll give back as good as he gets.”

“That's what I'm counting on!” Emmett replied, chuckling with a broad smile.
