The echo of Seth’s name seemed to ring in Jasper’s mind. He stiffened in his seat. Alice glanced over at Jasper, her hand moving to rest on his leg under the table. A vision of a grief stricken Jasper flashed before her eyes and she squeezed his leg. Jasper closed his book with a snap, gathered his things and left the room. The teacher stared after him in confusion before making a comment about how Jasper must be feeling ill. In her pocket, Alice’s cell phone buzzed. She pulled it out and read the text message.
