Mom Surgery: Update

Mom has pneumonia.

It's just in her left lung but the doctor is worried about her lung collapsing. She's supposed to get up and walk 3-4 times daily but can't get the breath to. When dad talked to her yesterday afternoon she said they hadn't given her any antibiotics, but last night she said they had. We don't really know if they have or not.

Mom's doctor gave the nurses a talking to for keeping her pain meds from her. Dad and I like her doctor, he's rough and straightforward. Last Sunday he had to fly to New York for his son's birthday and then flew back that night, he called to let the nurses know that he was in route and to check on his patients.

Dad thinks that mom got pneumonia, not because she wasn't up walking enough, but because she kept getting hot and had a fan pointed on her even when her skin was cold.

Make sure the doctors give her meds. Pneumonia always had a underlying condition and that needs to be medicated. *Nod*

They are getting ready to take the fluid off of her lungs so hopefully that will help.
