My alarm went off at 8am yesterday morning. Normally you wouldn’t find me awake at 8am on a Saturday morning… and there can be some debate if I was really awake yesterday morning. But I was out of bed and getting ready, why? At 10am the graduation ceremony for University of the Cumberlands would start and some time between then and 1pm I would be walking across that stage and accepting my diploma.

The ceremony was long and boring for the most part. They gave one woman her honorary doctorate and I swear they mentioned every person in her family and what they did. I’m sorry but I do. not. care. And I’m pretty sure that the majority of the graduating students didn’t care either. Graduation day is our day; it should be about us, not some woman who has money to give to the school or has given money to the school. But on the upside she spoke for about two minutes after getting her doctorate then the speaker came up and he was funny. UC never gets funny speakers… it just doesn’t happen so I think we were all surprised, pleasantly surprised.
Once they started giving out the diplomas the ceremony went fairly fast. By 12:15 we were dismissed. I went to pick up my actual diploma and then came back to find my family for the picture taking to start. I had to say goodbye to my boss and people from the library who had basically become my family in the five years that I’ve been at UC. That was really sad… though I didn’t cry. I didn’t cry at all, though I came close when my great aunt started to talk about how proud my nana and papa would be if they could have seen me today.
My family left for lunch as I went outside to take pictures with my friends, though not for long because I was starving. Kelly and I joined my family at Arby’s before we went back to the dorm to finish packing and load everything up into my and my parent’s car. There were about six people helping pack things and… it was just too many. They were driving me crazy asking if this and that went. I was glad once everything was packed and all I had left to do was vacuum then check out of the dorms for the last time.

On my way home I stopped to see my friend Brandon. He had to work and couldn’t come to graduation so he wanted to see me one last time before I left the area. Kelly and I hung out at Walmart then went to Brandon’s apartment until he got lunch, joined him for lunch and then made the last official trip from school to home. I jammed out the whole way, best way to drive if you ask me ^^;.
When I got home I was tired but I unloaded the stuff in my car and posted some pictures on Facebook from graduation, put my movies out of their box and then went to bed. Now I’ve started the unpacking process. I have so much crap. I have a trash pile and a Goodwill pile. Overall I would say I’m about… 25% done with unpacking and such.

Date: 2010-05-10 04:58 am (UTC)lol, I remember my sister's high school graduation. She had a small class, only 63 people, and they had to announce every insignificant thing about each person as they came up. -_- It literally took 3 hours to finish the whole thing.
But anyways, CONGRATS AGAIN OLIVIA! :))))

Date: 2010-05-10 04:05 pm (UTC)We had 276 graduates in this class, that was about double of what my high school was. Thankfully they didn't announce stuff about every person, just the one's who planned to go to grad school right out of college.
