Drabble: Naptime

Fandom: Twilight
Pairing: Jasper/Seth
Prompt: Nap
Dedication: For
lovergyul who wanted some Seth & Luka time.
Seth sat on the couch with his back resting against the arm as he read a book. Luka was on the floor playing with his trains. Every now and then Seth would look away from his book to watch Luka, making sure the four year old didn’t put a metal train anywhere it shouldn’t go. Satisfied, Seth went back to his book, though really he was thinking of his husband and how much he missed him. Jasper was away hunting and would be gone for another two days. He wasn’t the only one who missed Jasper, Luka had been asking at least twice a day when his papa was coming home.
“Daddy?”
Seth looked away from his book, finding Luka standing at the end of the couch, his blanket in hand. “Yeah baby?”
“’M tired…” Luka said softly rubbing one of his golden eyes with a fist.
“You wanna take a nap with daddy?” Seth questioned with a smile. His little Luka was so adorable. Luka nodded and climbed up onto the couch. Seth held his book away with one hand while Luka settled himself with his head resting on Seth’s shoulder. Luka held his blanket close, practically snuggling with it, as he brought his thumb to his mouth. Seth leaned his head against Luka’s after pressing a light kiss to his hair. He knew his high body heat would put Luka to sleep quickly, it always did.
“Daddy,” Luka mumbled.
“Hm?”
“Wadda read’n?”
“You want a story Luka?”
“Mhm.”
Seth glanced at his book and dubbed it inappropriate for Luka by a few years, so he improvised. “Alright, once upon a time… there was a young dark haired prince who fell in love with a golden haired knight…”

Date: 2012-11-16 02:34 am (UTC)Thank you so much! Beautifully done!
By the way, how's everything going with you? Are things getting better?

Date: 2012-11-16 12:38 pm (UTC)Oh ok. I will look out for it.
Are you still writing as much though? I know you said you had some projects you're working on like that Seth/Jasper story we spoke about a while back? Hows that coming along?

Date: 2012-11-16 02:58 pm (UTC)I'm determined to get the second story (A Couple Takes Two) in the Timeline series finished by the new year. Any writing I've been doing, other than drabbles, is on it. It is a Jacob/Seth & Edward/Jasper series but if you have time I'd love for you to read it. The first story was greatly unloved :(

Date: 2012-11-17 04:01 am (UTC)And I know, believe me I know. Starry and I are close friends, we met last year and hung out over the summer while I was in her state for vacation this year. I tried to talk her out of quitting many times, we still have ongoing Twilight RPs that I want to work on but she doesn't. It makes me really sad.
Mhm. The first one is "One is a Lonely Number". Two isn't posted yet, but hopefully it will be soon. It's part of a series I'm working on. Yeah, it was posted under the penname "avari-nights", which is Starry and I's co-author name.

Date: 2012-11-17 05:31 pm (UTC)I'm glad you do. Well she's doing what's best for her right now and she needs the support. She does has her reasons and we can just hope she comes back one day and decides to finish the amazing series she started.
I can't find "One is a Lonely Number." Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. Hmmm...I'll look again.

Date: 2012-11-17 10:39 pm (UTC)She does and that is all I can do until then. I told her what you said in your previous comment, she was really surprised. She assumed she hadn't made much of a name for herself in the fandom and I was like, "...wut?"
Here's a LJ link: http://avari-maethor.livejournal.com/232348.html

Date: 2012-11-18 05:17 am (UTC)O_O! Are you serious? Why would she think that? Does she have ANY idea how many reviews she has for Intermediate imprinting? Over 500! Like her stories are so awesome and the feelings portrayed are REAL and so intense. She manages to invoke emotions out of me from just one sentence (Feeling from Jake or Edward or ANY character) Tell Starry to wake up and smell the coffee. Lol! She has so many reviews and follows for ALL of her stories. She's the sole reason (Besides you) that got me into reading slash. "Basic Imprinting" was the first slash story I've read. Starry has NO idea...smh
Thank you much for the link! Will look at it now.

Date: 2012-11-18 06:50 pm (UTC)Not to be a creeper, but I just wanted to pop in and thank you for your kind words.
I just wanted you to know that leaving the fandom and leaving these stories unfinished was probably the hardest thing I've ever done since I started writing fanfiction.
But, I guess, I just out grew the fandom and, honestly, didn't enjoy it--in general--anymore. So, instead of forcing myself to write (which is something I strongly disagree with) I decided to just cut my losses and leave.
I've moved on since then, obviously. For a long while I wasn't writing any fanfiction at all, because I felt like I was starting to get a little burnt out and the urge just wasn't there anymore.
But, then, I got settled and comfortable in my new fandom and the words came back to me.
I want to say that, someday maybe, I'll finish those stories I haven't, but I don't have near as much faith in myself as
I just want to say, it's fans like you that keep us writers writing even if we may move on to new fandoms. Just remember that. :)

Date: 2012-11-19 03:40 am (UTC)Oh wow Starry! You are not a creeper (Although I was kinda nervous AND surprised to see your post) I did not know that's how you felt, but just know I understand. You can't force yourself to write something if your heart is not in it. But just know that you DO have fans and supporters out there who believe and miss you. You have such a way of writing that's very magnetic to people. In addition, your writing is an inspiration to others. At the end of the day, you got to do what's best for you. I am glad though that that option has not been take off the table. That gives me a little hope.
I am glad avari believes in you, but just know others do too.
Losing your muse and trying to gain it back is so hard sometimes. I started a great story last year, finished it, then made a sequel BUT never finished that one. I lost my muse and my interest just disappeared. So believe me I know how you feel. I've just been reading other stories hoping it will come back.
I am glad to know fans like me help you out. Keep up the good work Starry and don't give up on anything you set your mind to. Maybe one day. Hopefully, of or when that day comes, I'll be the first to know. Lol! Don't forget! ;)

Date: 2012-11-19 04:14 am (UTC)My writing's still, I dunno, very fragile right now. I guess I'm going through a phase because I felt like I had plateau-ed with my Twilight fanfiction or, well, my writing in general I suppose. I'm still having trouble with inspiration and second guessing myself, but I'm just paranoid in most cases, lol.
I'm glad—no, beyond glad. I can't tell you what it means to me to know that my writing has this sort of effect on people because, really, I never thought I wrote that well (though, that seems to be a trend with artists and whatnot, lol).
I can only say thank you, thank you and thank you for believing in me, reading my fanfiction and saying such kind things instead of doing what a lot of other readers would do – bitch because it's not finished.

Date: 2012-11-19 12:18 pm (UTC)Well having self-doubt is something ALL writers have. It's the feeling of wondering if you're good or if readers are going to like it and etc. That's normal, but if people are giving you compliments AND are taking the time out to write you messages letting you know your writing is good and you are well missed, then that means you ARE good. You have done GREAT with Twilight. I promise you that. All of your Edward and Jacob stories are the BEST I've ever written (Avari is more Jasper/Seth). They're alot more realistic than others. Don't get me wrong, there are some talented writers out there for that couple that I've read and loved, but yours just stand out. Plus your messages on your profile are so blunt and they make laugh so much and I'm like "Readers are probably pissing you off." Lol! If you haven't don't great, you wouldn't still be getting reviews. Lol!
You are WELCOME! And believe me I know about the bitching and moaning. I've been getting those messages too. Lol! It's funny how readers take these kinds of thing so HARD. Lol!
Don't ever give up on something you love to do. There will be times that trying and tough, but you got to hold on especially if it's something you love that's worth it.

Date: 2012-11-19 05:41 pm (UTC)Realism is always something I strived for in my Twilight fanfiction, just because I was SO tired of seeing Edward and Jacob fall insanely in love with each other, like, right after the imprint. It's just...ridiculous. I mean, yes, the imprint is seen as a crutch in the fandom, but if you're going to use it, why not exploit it? I wanted to give the fandom an imprinting story they hadn't seen before and, I guess I accomplished that.
I'm always blunt and honest, but a lot of the times it's because I get the SAME reviews from fans asking the SAME questions -- questions that could be answered in my profile if they'd just check.
Like, omg, today I got a PM from a fan asking about the Toeing the Line sequel. I answered politely, well, maybe I was a little short with them, but omfg, it says in my profile that I'm done with Twilight fanfiction for the moment.
*siiiiiiiiiiiiigh*
Hey, in attempts NOT to hijack Avari's story and comment count, lol, do you want my email address? Or maybe my yahoo messenger info? If you have one?

Date: 2012-11-20 01:20 am (UTC)Hey well Avari has someone helping her to build you up when it comes to Twilight so now you have double trouble. Lol!
I understand about the imprint. Plus I don't think it should be used as a clutch so easily. Plus the last time I checked, the imprintee has the choice to walk away (Hate Emily cause she didn't and she knew she wanted her cousin's boyfriend) Sorry about that. Lol! But you did the right thing by exploiting it and you did an excellent job at it. That is really one of the BEST imprinting stories out there. What disappointed me the most though when you stopped was Seth JUST imprinted on Jasper and that event right there would've made an excellent storyline and plot. It kinda would've taken some of the focus off Jake/Edward for a bit which is great in my book. You always want to have at least one other couple with their own dynamic in a story. But anyway...I was so looking forward to their development cause there's not much Jasper/Seth out there and Avari mostly does drabble or one shots which is awesome, but I guess I'm just greedy for more. Lol! Paging Avari for more Jasper/Seth stories! Lol!
Yeah you are blunt and honest and come off a bit strong. Lol! My first reaction when I read your profile was laughter. I was like "What? This girl is beasting and readers must be getting on her nerves." And you covered everything too so I don't know what's so hard for people to understand. Smh....
Anyway...as long as you have the ideas on the table, there's still hope. And I know you have not deleted anything so you must have something in the back of your mind. Just take your time and whenever you are ready to tackle Twilight again, then aim for it.
Yeah I think we did take over Avari's story and comment count. Lol! I did not even notice until you pointed it out. I rarely use my yahoo messenger but I do have hotmail (msn messenger) which I use alot more. I'm wondering if to say the email address on here or if you want me to message you somewhere else. Let me know.
